Inexpensive way to get into 10G networking
Got this to take advantage of my fiber internet connection which has a 5Gbps copper port. Gained about 300Mbps on the upstream even though the connection is sold as 1Gbps (it tests at about 1250Mbps up). 5Gbps from the AT&T equipment to the switch, 2.5Gbps to my gaming computer, 10Gbps to my NAS, and 10Gbps via DAC to my pfSense box with VLANs for LAN and WAN on the same port. Connects back to my 1Gbps switches with a 4 port LAG. Only con I can come up with is no SNMP but that's normal with "smart managed" switches.

10GBe ports are finicky with long runs, Switch runs HOT!
EDIT: The replacement switch has been working fine for some time now with no issues so I guess the original switch was indeed faulty. Switch still runs hot and RMA unit came with a pretty bad dent. Changing rating from 2 stars to 4 stars. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was using this switch to primarily connect my main computer to my TrueNAS server via a 10GBe connection. When I first got the switch, it worked fine for a couple of months then one day when waking my main computer from sleep I did not have a network connection. (Network connection showed as unplugged) Restarting the computer did not restore the connection. I then restarted the switch and the connection was re-established. This worked off and on for a few weeks, each time restarting the switch restored the connection. Then recently the same issue occurred but this time restarting the switch did not restore the connection. No matter what I did, I could not get a connection. After many hours of troubleshooting I discovered that the switch will no longer connect via my 160ft CAT6 run on any of the 10GBe ports. Not even attempting to force a 5GBe, 2.5GBe or 1GBe connection will work on any of the 10GBe ports. It sometimes works on a 1GBe port but not consistently. Often getting an identifying network message on the network adapter that never resolves. I confirmed that a shorter 20ft run works fine on the 10GBe ports. 160ft is within their 55m (180ft) claim albeit close to the max. So did my 160ft run go bad? To rule out that there could be something wrong with the 160ft run I proceeded to test the run with a cable tester and it passed. I then bypassed the switch and connected my main computer directly to the NAS using the same run and found no issues establishing a 10GBe link. I don't understand why all of a sudden the switch no longer works with the 160ft run. I'm going to RMA the switch and see if the replacement pans out.

Seems to work just fine. Nice combination of 1G and 10G ports.
I’m using this in an unmanaged home network. I’ve been upgrading the connections between my workstations and servers to 10G. This provides a really nice combination of ports in the office. Allows me to connect in a10G run to my main workstations, a other 10G run to my servers in the next room and plenty of 1G ports for connections to printers, my internet connection, and off to entertainment systems around the house. And the SFP port will come in handy for a future backup server I want to locate in a work shed on the property to provide a remote backup in case of disaster. I’m just using it in its default configuration. Have not tried connecting to its web server or modifying any settings as the default seems fine for what I need. Unlike others who said it seems to run really hot, the temperature doesn’t seem overly high compared to a couple 5 port 10G and 2.5G switches I have. I did put teller feet on it (about 3/8 inch) than the very low ones they provide in the box to provide a bit better air flow around the bottom. This send like it would be a good change for the manufactured to make. Also I’m not using quite all the ports currently (6 of 8 1G, 2 of 3 10G, and the SFP port is unused. I’ve only had it a couple days, but quite happy with the purchase so far. Seems like good value fir the cost.

RIP, you died too soon
Put into use on Mar 24 2024, dead on Nov 16 2025. Its 602 day life served me well, but seems to be a little short... I will not be buying a replacement.
