Small but perfectly formed
Are you're serious about coffee and have a proper grinder for beans you buy at your local artisan roastery that you then carefully weigh and bloom and set timers for etc etc etc. And you don't have a goose neck kettle? Resistance is futile. We've all been there. I tried making my daily V60 with a regular kettle but it's just no fun. It's not zen. It spoils the ritual. This little Dualit makes the ritual feel duly special. And it makes your kitchen look better too. It's an unexpectedly beautiful and delicate (in style) object, in the way appliances rarely are these days. It sort of justifies the price (you can tell yourself). Every time I use it, I get a bit of pleasure from it. From the sweet little lid, the subtle reversed-out display for the temperature, the mute button to stop it beeping, the super-quiet boiling, the delicate LEDs around the controls. It's really small and neat and actually quite adorable. Not perfect of course, what is? It's almost impossible to see the maximum fill level inside the kettle, which is a shame since the instructions say it's really, really important. The mute function is nice but f you switch off at the mains it forgets it. Grrr. And the action of the temperature knob doesn't feel all that positive. Also, if you set it to a temperature below boiling, it sort of sneaks up to that temperature quite slowly. For a full boil it's really fast. I'm prepared to forgive it a few foibles however. It pours beautifully and makes really nice coffee. I kind of like that it's not even pretending to be a regular kettle as well so you'll need both, oh yes. It feels special using this Dualit. I like it.

(3 month review) Excellent little kettle.
This is an excellent gooseneck kettle, if a little small in volume (c. 800ml). It heats up quickly, allows you to choose a temperature by each degree celsius (rather than, say, by 5), and has a hold temperature function - which is very useful. However, for £89 you would expect these features in a kettle. This kettle is probably worth the extra you would pay over a cheap and cheerful gooseneck, and something like the Fellow Stagg does not deliver a better experience that the Dualit, making this (probably) the best kettle in this price range. I recommend it, and after 3 months it remains flawless.

Good quality kettle
Very happy with the purchase. It feels/looks good quality, with the possible exception of the lid which has a graty-feeling friction fit. Setting the temperature using the knob is nice, though sometimes it can be a little awkward to avoid overshooting the temperature you're aiming for. I was pleased to find that the temperature hold function continues to work after temporarily removing the kettle from the base. I also like the way that it gently approaches your desired temperature, though that could be annoying if you're in a desperate hurry. It has a nice, controlled pour (though I haven't used it for a pourover yet). It's plenty big enough for a couple of cups - just don't make the mistake of thinking that it's a big as a "normal" kitchen kettle!

Temperature controlled kettle
Definitely a sophisticated kettle. One set the temperature exactly. The spout gives it an old fashioned look, the display is excellant.

Fairly fast up to temperature, holds temperature well and clean, controllable pour
Not the cheapest but certainly not the most expensive. Does the job well and looks good. Controls/indicators take a little getting used to, e.g. what the display shows, with some things flashing vs. the lights on the buttons etc. It's just a bit of a mess but OK once you're used to it. The beeps aren't terribly loud so I'm not sure many would turn them off (the heating of the water is louder) so I'd trade that feature for some more positive indication that it is actually switched off / inactive.

Great kettle. Long-lasting.
3.5 years later is still working smoothly.

Underperforms for V60
I think it's fair to say if you're paying this much and you want this degree of temp control, you're doing fancy pourover coffee. Everyone else is probably just using a regular kettle with the 60/70/80/90/100 temp settings. For V60 (and any other use that would require very careful pouring), this kettle is not worth its high cost. The gooseneck is kind of very vertical and it's extremely difficult to get a very slow and controlled pour without getting a lot of droplets (which cause a lot of agitation which itself causes clogging thus uneven extraction etc). This is especially an issue if you're making small brews, say 15g. In comparison, my Melitta stovetop gooseneck kettle pours beautifully and allows much greater control. And yes I am already using the kettle with a minimum amount of water. You don't have to believe me though, James Hoffman said in his review that it feels like the Dualit wants to pour fast. I guess he didn't see it as much of an issue since he typically makes 30g/500g brews which are much larger and can easily cope with faster pour. I now kind of regret getting this kettle and wish I'd have spent the small extra for the Bonavita. As a "pro" tip, hold the kettle with two hands and lean it on its side. This, plus as little water in the kettle as possible, will get you as close as one can get to a slow and controlled pour with this gooseneck. Anyway... The temperature control is fine. I think this kettle should really have a "go" button to just boil for those occasions. I also noticed depending on if you start from cold or hot, the kettle can easily overshoot, especially if you are in the 96-100 range (in which, by the way, the "hold" function does not work). Lastly the hold sits easily around ±1°C of your target temp, sometimes more, so you should keep this in mind if you're a total freak about hitting an exact temperature. Otherwise I like the base and the controls (minus lack of boil button) and the beeps and the build is very nice. But would not buy again.
