I think this is the best mechanical pencil
I was hoping this would be just like the model 1345 (0.5mm lead) but with a .7mm lead. I got my wish. My oldest 1345 has been with me for a long time, maybe close to 10 years with no signs of wear&tear. The shape of the rubber pad has changed from the original, making it a little bit more comfortable, but both styles are a pleasure to write with. The retracting tip doesn't catch on the fabric of my pocket the way some others do. The soft lead is dark, the eraser is narrow, but good quality, the pocket clip is sturdy. I received my 1347 yesterday and after checking it out I ordered three more today. That makes two each for me wife and I.

This pencil fits all my needs and it have a very good grip for holding it prefer for drawing and writing.
