Terrific & Healthy
This was a purchase because my vet said I needed to add puppy food to my dog’s diet in order to boost the calcium content in her milk. She had 3 puppies at end of September and I’m pleased to report they are all doing fine, growing by leaps and bounds. Now I’m starting to wean them so it’s now their food exclusively. They love it and gobble all that I place in their bowls. It contains No grains, preservatives, fillers or anything that would harm them. I’m sending two cans with each baby once I’ve found their forever homes. I highly recommend it.

Delicious!
I was asked about the flavor and ingredients so, I whipped up a can and, yummm! Deeelicious! Just kidding. Lol. Hey, it’s puppy food, all I know is it seems to be quality food on the higher end of price for that reason. If you have a new puppy, don’t do what I did and give him a nibble of your food here, meaty snacks there. Before you know it, his little belly is small and you can misjudge the amount you’re giving them for all those good boy treats. He went on a hunger strike from eating his healthy puppy food and it took me awhile to correct it. It was my bad and a ruff time! Enjoy your pup, they love you!

The food is top notch. The cans arrive damaged in most cases
The Product: I've searched for quite some time for a pet food for puppies that was nutritionally balanced, without containing lots of fillers and extra content just to create volume. Wellness Puppy is a 5 star food on all fronts. I've never had any issues with this product and my dogs both love it. This product is manufactured in the United States. The west coast based facility tends to make the food a bit dryer than the east coast based facility. Both smell the exact same. You will see a "gelatin" type substance in the can when you open it. Typically it's along the sides of the food. The substance is not "fat". It's very much like any food (think of canned soups like Chili) that separate after being on a shelf for a bit. Simply stick a fork in the can and stir it back up. It's just fine. For specific details on contents and health aspects, do a quick google search. I highly recommend this product to people with puppies. The Packaging & Shipping I order this by the case from Amazon and will try one final time before I discontinue. I love amazon, but the cans I receive are always damaged. The food (case wise) comes sealed with plastic wrap and clearly labeled with a lot number and expiration dates which is wonderful. However, the last 2 shipments I've received have had 5 and 8 damaged cans respectively. Now I understand that their will be a dent or two now and again and I'm completely fine with that. I'm referring to damage that's so significant to the can that you don't know if the can is punctured or not, so you're hesitant to feed it to your pets. There is seemingly no quality control on the amazon side pertaining to the handling and shipping of this product. My hope is that they get it worked out because it's cheaper to buy at amazon with the free shipping, but it's far more expensive when you have to throw away 5 or more cans per case due to damage. If you're interested in trying this food, stop by a pet store and pick up a can or two. Expect to pay between $2.50 and $3.00 per can. Your pets will love it. It costs a bit more because of the high quality ingredients used in the manufacture. My puppies (small breeds) have been getting it since they were 11 weeks old. They're healthy, happy, great coats and clean teeth. I couldn't be happier with the product.

Using it for an elderly dog with a sensitive stomach
This food has been invaluable in keeping weight on my elderly dog. It is high in calories and easily digested so it is good for an older dog with a sensitive stomach who is not a big eater. The wellness core puppy has also worked well. Before this, I had tried more than a dozen foods unsuccessfully. This food is more economical than it seems too because the high caloric content means you can feed less. Yes, I know it is puppy food. But like many things in life, we come full circle as we get older.

Every can was damaged - what are they trying to pull
Our dog loves this dog food. But, after my experience with ordering this product online through Amazon the dog may not get it again, as I am not only upset with Amazon for allowing it, but also the manufacturer who passes on their damaged cans to the public through an online site. I ordered a case of this product and every can in the shipment has large dents in the can. And because of the location of the dents, on the inside cans, in the packaging, you can tell it wasn't damage done during shipping. These cans we packed that way. Never again will I order anything like this online. It has actually soured me on using Amazon.

EXCELLENT for young weaning pups. I feed mostly raw but fav canned for pups
I have donated this to rescues many time and told them to put this on their wishlist! I am an expensive breeder of gsds, and aid rescues too! (not for stock with rescues just love the breed including those who aren't mine) We indoor maintain our pups. As far as commercial canned goes, has to be my number 1 choice. Passes the "number 2 smell test" Easily digestible, and you can tell pups have zero issue. I have many rescue friends who call me and say we have a rejected litter and grace weaning. I have shipped them wellness for puppy to aid in transitioning. They can't thank me enough. Has to be the easiest food for young pups if you are going canned! Love this stuff.

At first was great, but then….
I am a huge Welllness fan. My older dog has been on Wellness core and RawRev and he loved it until he recently was put on a special vet diet. So new puppy comes along and I see wellness puppy- it’s not cheap but I know the quality and ingredients etc. so I give it a shot. I buy a case of wet and a big bag of the dry. Puppy loves the wet as I start giving to her and taking her off the terrible food the breeder was feeding her. It was great for a week. Then suddenly she absolutely refused to eat the food. Would not touch it. It was so strange. So I ended up buying a few other puppy wet foods to try blue, purina pro she also had royal canin. Point is she refused to eat the rest of the wellness so I literally threw away half the case. What a bummer I was hoping she would love it!

Did my research. Have a sheepdog who is growing daily and this supplemented his diet perfectly. Loves it mixed with his dry food.

Our experience mirrors that of other reviewers in that the flat of cans received is simply not the same as the same item we had been purchasing elsewhere for several months. the consistency, texture, and smell are noticeably different as is the pup's appreciation of the food.
