Q: Could these be treated to be used outdoors?

I would consider that the surface on which you are going to be use them on would be more of a problem rather than there suitability of outside use. They are made of a substantial thickness of steel that would last so would agree on outdoor use they could be sprayed with a preservative oil.

Depends how big and heavy the wardrobe is. They are pretty sturdy and run smooth, mine are taking a lot of weight at the moment - ikea 4x cube pax shelf stuffed to the rim with books, ps4, games, tools, and tv on top - and are doing a good job. But, for an adults wardrobe I would perhaps put an extra pair? Good luck
