Read some forum that this removed the calcium scale from outboard motors. I applied this with a toothbrush and scrub brush while floating in the water. I squeezing it on and layering over the scale and waited for it to no longer bubble, then gently scrubbed off the outer layers. It worked ok as it is a mild acid. It just took a lot of scrubbing for 10 years of scaling. If I would have used this in the early years, it would have kept up with the scale buildup. I live in the Midwest in a small fresh water lake near a quarry with lots of limestone in the area. I think a higher acid content is what I needed for a 10 year build up. I still use it as it is mild and it is slowly working away the layers. I have completed 2 years and removed about 75% of the scale and thinned the remaining layers considerably.
