The bugs are terrible at this time of year. This hat definitely keep the bugs from bugging my ears. It also keeps the sun off my neck. It is warmer on my neck and head when I wear the hat. So wet it, then it keep me cooler. Great hat for gardening or whenever you don't want the sun on your face or neck. It's actually cuter than I thought it would be to wear. It has a cord on the back to tighten it, so it stays in place on your head.

Bought this for my partner so his bald head and the back of his neck doesn’t burn when swimming without having sunscreen running in his eyes. He ended up really liking it for working outside in the sun as well as for swimming. The quick dry fabric has an evaporative cooling effect, so it keeps him cooler in the hot sun! Fits bigger heads, roughly 23.5 inch circumference in my partners case, and protects the neck from the sun as well with the longer back flap. Seems well made/good construction, better than I expected for an off brand.

I wondered if this inexpensive hat would do what other, more expensive sun/safari hats would - it did! We went on 27 safaris in India and while my partner's cap flew off three times (to the grumble of the safari guides), this one stayed on. It kept the sun out of my eyes while photographing, kept the insects off my neck and back with the flap, and the only negative was how shielding it was with the wide brim, which got in the way of other people's photos. It would also be nice to be able to tie up the flap on the back for really hot days when you would like some air to circulate round your neck. Highly recommended.

Have been using it when hiking, does a good job protecting the neck from sunburn. I have washed it couple times by hand using soap water and then hang dry, seems ok.

Love this hat!!! It is very lightweight but fully covers your face and your upper back. Keeps you from having to wear something around your neck to keep from getting a sunburn while doing landscaping/gardening. Fits great and is fully adjustable. Worth every cent!

It fits my big head, although a bit more snug than I’d have liked. The brim stays in its place and protects my eyes so well (and my eyeglasses darken enough) that I haven’t needed my “fitsover” sunglasses that I normally wear while gardening. It folds flat and is lightweight so will travel well. I have a large head so ordered 3 different hats to try. This is a much better fit so I returned the others, but I would have liked it a tad larger so I could tuck my hair up into it.

OK, bought with expecting a hat that may not be for me. I have 3 Tilleys. My #1 tilley is well used. I needed a sun protection hat for my fishing. Once I received this hat and thoroughly investigated it, I realized this is not a cheap hat. The price is not relative here. The hat material is lightweight, paneled and the bill is shaped and firm. I went fishing and this hat because it is lightweight and with 10 mph wind the bill did not fold back like the Tilley. This purchase was a fantastic find. The cost is so low for a quality hat. I now have a new fishing hat. A very comfortable wearing hat.

Well sorry to say my perfect hat has a defect. The strap on the right side, which help secure it below your chin, just . I have came out. I have worn the had 6 times and this happened. To the folks making the hat, you need to secure these straps better. Now nothing to keep it tied down in this Gulf Coast wind. I had to safety pin it. Needs to be sewn in better. Otherwise still a great hat. In South Texas its sun and heat pretty much 24/7 & you best be wearing Sun Protection daily. I was tired of fighting with my straw hat. It was hot, little too big, kept coming off & I still had to wear a scarf around my neck to shade my neck. NOT ANY MORE! This hat was adjustable, light weight, kept the back of my neck protected & was vented for cooler wearing. Love the large brim and facial coverage. Much better. Perfect! I ordered two!
