These little gems are in use throughout the day at our house, both as pot holders and as trivets. For most of our cooking, these are able to take the place of cumbersome oven mitts. We have three sets in different colors, so if some are in the dishwasher there are always a few available. Our first set is now a few years old and still looks brand new.

I love my silicone hot pads, primarily because I can just stick them in the dishwasher. But sometimes they're a little hard to maneuver, especially when grabbing pot handles. So I thought these might help. Now I use them for everything. They're so flexible - I get a more secure (conforming) grip, and my hands don't fatigue if I have to hold something for a while. They're small enough to fit in places that used to be a problem (the teapot! I used to have to just wait for the handle to cool.) And, they're plenty big enough for taking things out of the oven (though I have small hands.) Also big enough to use as a trivet (briefly). And I can still put them in the dishwasher - but they take up less room. I like these so much I've been buying them for my friends.

As one might expect from Le Creuset, this pot holder/jar opener is high quality. But I think the name is a misnomer -- I find it far too large to use to open jars; pot holder/trivet woud be more appropriate. I'm still looking for those smaller jar openers that used to be given away as promotional items...
