EnerGel Alloy RT Retractable Liquid Gel Pen.7mm, Blue Barrel, Black Ink (BL407CA)

I love a good gel ink pen, and this particular one (alloy body) is perfect for my needs. Retractable, smooth and easy writing on regular paper, and quick drying to avoid smearing (I'm left handed so this is very important). So far I have owned almost ten on these pens (I like to vary the colors) and I regularly purchase the ink refills. These pens last quite awhile before you start to see some wear and tear on the shaft, as well as the retract button starting to stick. These pen bodies can last two or three years of daily and heavy use. And the body has a nice weight to it, lending itself to an even smoother writing experience, as if the pen does all the work. If you end up dropping the pen and the impact is on the pen tip, there's a chance you can damage to the tip and the pen will stop writing, which is solved by replacing the ink. Hands down one of the best pens I've had the pleasure of using as a daily driver. Full recommendation.

Great pen

I’ve been on a quest to find the best writing pen for over 35 years and this pen checks every box. It writes smoothly and the ink never skips or smears. I like the added weight of the metal. I also like that the pens are refillable and the ink cartridges fit several different Pentel pens. I’m a teacher so I write a lot. I purchased these pens in every color.

The reason I purchase this pen from Amazon was to replace my original PENTEL EnerGel Alloy RT which I left at a doctors office. So, I already knew what to expect from the product. I have other colors of this model but the one I lost was the only one I had with the blue body. I have one small complaint about the one I just purchased. When I opened the box containing the pen and some other items I had ordered I noticed that the plastic sleeve the pen was in had ink smeared inside. The little "rubber" bit that Pentel normally has on a new pen tip was missing. This alone does not account for the amount of ink that was in the plastic sleeve (this did not come in the retail packaging though neither did the two red versions I also bought here on Amazon and they did not have this issue, plus those each came with a spare ink cartridge while this one did not). This is just a small complaint as the ink cartridge still has a lot of ink, However, as I do not know why so much ink leaked out I am left to wonder if the cartridge with eventually leak and smear ink when I am using the pen Value for money I give 3 out of five stars. You can get better deals on multi-packs of refillable pens made of plastic that have a similar size and shape to this model. Comfort I give 5 stars. This has a nice fat barrel making it comfortable to hold and write with. Durability I give 4 out of 5 stars. As I said I have several of this model pen in various colors and one of them dropped on my basement floor causing the button to pop off. While the barrel of the pen and the pocket clip are metal, the inner workings of the "clicky" button are just plastic. I do give Pentel kudos for replacing that pen when I sent it back for warranty repair/replacement. So, while this may not be the all-metal construction of a high-end pen it does come with an excellent warranty that Pentel ACTUALLY stands behind. All these things taken into consideration my overall rating is 4 out of 5 stars. If you want a great refillable pen with metal construction that won;t break the bank you can't really go wrong with the Pentel Energel Alloy.

Best pen ever! Nice heft, easy ink flow, perfect. I’ve given as little gifts at work (nursing) and those I gave to, bought more and gave the same gift to others. Really nice pens.

The refills work well for long stretches and the pen has a comfortable feel.
