Feb 19, 2025 Update - New molecular weight, why switch to Low weight when the High Weight HA makes for great skincare and best results in the long run. My personal preference, HW/HA is stable, and Low Weight HA is not for me. Low molecular weight hyaluronic acid has been found to have a pro-inflammatory effect. It does penetrate deeper to plump the skin, but it can have an adverse reaction on certain skin types. This is information I gathered from a couple of reputable sources when searching for differences between the two molecular weights, High and Low. High molecular weight hyaluronic acid has an anti-inflammatory effect and less likely to irritate, even with consistent use. The best way to hydrate your skin overall is with water. But your skin needs help, and high molecular weight HA works to keep the skin’s top layer protected and moisturized. The top layer of your skin is the most vulnerable to the elements, so my choice is High Molecular weight HA powder for my DIY skincare products. I have been very pleased with MicroIngredients and their previous versions of High Molecular Weight HA. Back to the drawing board and moving forward in search for a good quality High Molecular Weight HA Powder. Very disappointed because I do like this company and their manufacturing practices with their past products. Would be nice if MicroIngredients could manufacture both molecular weights and give their customers a choice. June 26, 2024 Update - As of today I have gone back to my usual routine using the suggested recipe by MicroIngredients for skin hydration of 1/8 tsp HA powder to 2 oz purified water, on my face and neck. In other words I’m applying the regular strength HA mix to my face and neck, arms and legs. Had given the stronger percentage a trial run on face and neck and after a couple months there did not seem to be a significant difference in moisture retention. (See my previous update below) It’s all good. The recommended percentage of HA does the job. Hope these updates help others who are using MicroIngredients as a part of their skincare routine. On June 1, 2024 - Updating to say I am now also using a 1-ounce amber glass pump bottle with double the suggested recipe by MicroIngredients (1 tiny scoop with the provided plastic 1/8 tsp measuring spoon, and I fill the bottle with filtered water close to the top allowing for a vigorous shake to mix it together. I add only 1 drop of Lavender essential oil to this mix). As with both recipes, cold filtered water works best. I put this on my face, neck and chest only. For arms and legs, I have the original recipe prepared in a 4 oz amber glass dropper bottle, and mix it according to their suggested measurement of one scoop per 2 ounces of water. It has pumped up the moisture retention on the surface of my skin and there is improvement in skin texture. This high molecular weight HA powder by MicroIngredients is top of the line and all the credit goes to their science and reliability of high quality standards. UPDATE, February 2024 - For anyone looking to consume this HA Powder as a supplement taken internally, there was at one time detailed information noted on the product description stating as such. The company also listed it as a topical application to keep skin hydrated. Based on the recent change in product description, I am under the impression MicroIngredients is now suggesting this HA Powder be used more for topical skincare. I say this because MicroIngredients has only one statement included in its features and use, for mixing it in smoothies. Everything else listed pertains to topical skincare. If you are interested in taking this internally, I advise you to contact the manufacturer by going to their website and reaching out to them directly. I am a firm believer this HA powder is the best High Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid Powder out there for external application. Been using it now for almost a year and the results are impressive. Read all my updates on the powder and decide for yourself. UPDATE, October 2023 - Still loving the results of this HA DIY skin serum. Use it twice daily before applying a moisturizer. Simple and real results. I hope others can benefit from it as I have. Original Review March 2023 - I decided to order a new package of this MicroIngredients HA Powder recently, and I noticed there was a recipe for making the facial serum with the tiny scoop (1/8 teaspoon) included with the order. Not sure if I missed the instructions before with the previous order, or whether this new HA powder is a better grade, maybe all of the above. I’ve got to say I agree with one reviewer who recently said how pleased she was with this powder as a facial serum. I mixed the powder exactly as noted on the directions and it formed a light serum gel easily applied to the skin and absorbed immediately. There was no film, no flaking when applying a moisturizer following application of the serum, or unusually tight feeling on my face. I’ll just leave it at that and I changed my rating from 3 to a full 5 Star review. As long as the product continues to be consistent in this high quality form, I’ll be a customer for life.

I have not been this satisfied with a beauty product in a LONG time. My skin looks amazing, plump, and glowing. At first I just started with the gel and no moisturizer to see the results. I saw changes in my skin within three days. It was glowing and you can start to see it just looked healthier. Then I followed the recommendation to use it with moisturizer and I am in love. The fact that you use two scoops, which are tiny, for two ounces is amazing. I am going to have enough for a year. The value, quality, and quantity for the price are unmatched. I have enough that I make 4 ounces, using two scoops, and it last me 2 weeks using it on my whole body. I thought I would have to do more to make it dissolve but it dissolves easily. I just add it to the water close the lid, shake a little, and put it in the fridge for a couple of hours. It is gel like and can be a little to get used to but when my skin started showing the results I didn’t care. You will be just as amazed at the results.

This stuff is great! Ive been using it on my body and my hair. I mixed a tiny bit of glycerin, a drop or two of apricot oil and a drop or two of castor oil and a two drops of sandelwoood for a sweet woodsy fragrance. It works so well! I am confused as to if it is HW or a LW HA though. Edit: To be clear, I have a separate container for the HA for my hair, and I don't add oils to that. After shampoo/condition, I generously put HA on my hair and scalp and comb through. Then after 5 or so minutes I put on my heat protectant, if I am going to style my hair with heat. It does not make my hair or scalp oily. But overall it seems like a great clean product and this little bag will last a very long time!

I've ordered this powder from 2 sellers and this seller has a nicer bag. The inner ziplock back is quite sturdy and repeat zips better. The actual powder is slightly finer too you can tell when it hits the surface of the water it turns more transparent as it floats up top. Slightly unfiner powders will sit higher up on the surface. All this means is with a powder blender is probably dissolves in 20-30% less time which may seem like a small benefit but combined with the better inner bag and extra plastic spoon (which was another bonus I like the spoon).. those 3 details + the price makes this a better overall deal. To the acid, chemical: hyaluronic acid. What can I say? What will you believe? That I've had serious joint pain since coming off opiates 4 yrs ago and NOTHING has had such an impact on my joints as hyaluronic acid? I've split tested all the following over many years all on their own. Glutamine, Glucosamine. Chondroiton. MSM. Vitamin B-5 (for a "cortisol shot" which helps the adrenals moderate pain) And now hyaluronic acid. That's not all I've taken for joints just the most talked about. And I should mention that l-glutamine isn't talked about as often (for joint pain) which is why I listed it first but it's prescribed to cancer patients for pain. It helped my joint pain the first day I started taking it. But glucosamine was stronger, chondroiton was weaker. MSM I did not notice an effect so I just don't take it that's me. Vitamin B-5 at 1500mg a day has a very significant impact on my joint pain too. But I've still had about 20% of my joint pain left. Since adding hyaluronic as my very LAST joint supplement, 100% of my pain is now gone. Absolutely gone. After 4 yrs testing things, I now have 100% of my physical pain addressed through a power combination that works for me, and hyaluronic acid is my new #1 joint supplement. However we need to talk about dose (later). I'd put B-5 2nd. Glucosamine 3rd. Chondroitin 4th. Glutamine 5th. NAC also helps with inflammation I take it about 3 times a week. And for the record I've been taking HA now 18 days, my first 10gms from another seller. HA clearly helps moisture the skin. It also seems to reduce itching that would happen with many clothing fabrics... it just makes them less itchy by making your skin softer. It also makes your skin tighten up a bit like citric acid but unlike citric acid it actually feels good, healthy.. and you can see the different by looking at your skin. It's rather significant. Especially higher concentrations. I do low concentration for the day, high concentration at night (topically for skin). Orally now I need to mention this. I noticed an incredible impact at 200mg a day. And I read that to be a fairly moderate to "high" dose. Though I saw some other person talking about 400mg a day to be a good dose on the upper limit. The lower limit seems to be a standard 100mg dose that's found in most pills... but finding a good standard upper limit isn't as clear. And according to wikipedia the avg body should have around 15gms of HA naturally (losing it's ability to produce it as we age) ... so is 100mg a day really significant at all to that math? Is it likely more relative to age? Maybe in your 20s a low dose will help. Late 30s or older I think you need more. Some days I'll take 300mg twice in 1 day... then drop it back down to 200mg twice the next day, 300mg the next, back up to 400mg (split in 2 again), I keep rotating the dose like this going back up to 600mg I'm only doing this now because I've noticed no negative side effects at all, only good effects. My eyes are also more lubricated in a way that systane never helped. Maybe I've just been eternally "dry" or not properly understanding lubrication in the body because I notice my eyes also move easier now without blinking. And my peripheral vision somehow seems stronger. So it kills joint pain very effectively at upper limit doses, reduces skin dryness and cloth itcheness at 1-2% concentration on the skin, makes skin soft, more elastic & bendable, this same elasticity seems to work it's way into your joints, also seems to change how nerves respond to movement through its lubrication abilities so if it works for you I'd say don't be afraid to shoot up the dose to a higher limit than 200mg a day. Run smart tests with every supplement you take that's the answer to finding what really works best for you, at what doses or combinations you might need!
