I purchased this product as a gift for a friend's child who loves to do science experiments. When he opened the gift he was very excited that it was slime. His mom was not so excited. LOL I just checked back in with them and she said he had fun creating many experiments, though the slime part got messed up. Not sure what that meant.

Make a self-powered light. This is the teeniest tiniest lite bulb ever. My kids could not get this to work until I told them to take off their shoes, and rub their stocking feet into the carpet to create a static charge and then touch the probe end of the light bulb to something metal. Bingo! A brief orange glowing light appeared!!2. Make a glow stick. Put a scoop of zinc sulfide in a test tube. Yep, that's it.3. Create a bubbling glow wand. Looked awesome. My kids really liked this one.4. Make glow in the dark slime. Another favorite with the kids. Lasted over week stored in the fridge.5. Glow in the dark plastic stars with adhesive putty. My kids had fun sticking these all over the house.Note: the guar gum used to make the slime likes to clump in water. So it is easiest to dissolve the guar gum in a bit of rubbing alcohol and then add it to hot water and stir. Let it sit 5 - 15 minutes to gel up.

I thought my grandson who is eight would like this science kit, we have bought quite a few over the last year or so ,like at Big Lots and the ones there are more simple for a kid to understand. See, my grandson is a mover he does not sit still for very long and if something takes too long to figure out , he pretty much walks away from it. And he let me know early on he was not going to sit through all those directions to get the effect he wanted out of science! Sorry I couldn't give a better review , but for us it was too mature for an eight year old . Too many instructions for every little project.

I bought this for my 8 yr old niece for Christmas. She had a blast! She loves experiments so this was the perfect gift.

Get it for your kids, or your neighbor's kids, or your brother's kids, or your yoga coach's uncle's kids. Then leave it at your house for a month and "forget" to give it to them. Have a "few" drinks and convince your friends to do it yourselves. Wake up in the morning surrounded by glowing regret. Rinse. Repeat.

Basically, you get to choose ONE experiment that you want to do that involves the glow powder. Unfortunately, it doesn't tell you that before you do the experiment. One thing of glow slime requires 1.5-2 tsp zinc sulfide (glow powder) and it comes with one package of zinc sulfide with only 1.5 tsp in it. So realistically, you potentially don't even have enough for the one experiment. Now, all the other supplies are useless, besides maybe the light bulb experiment, and we might as well throw away the kit. They tell you to cool the guar gum solution, but they don't tell you how much to cool it, so when we made the slime it turned out more like cottage cheese than slime. I'm guessing because our guar gum solution wasn't cool enough. Kit was pretty much a complete waste of money and time.

My daughter is always creating and experimenting and this was a wonderful "all in one" kit! Great product for a great price. And unlike other similiar products you didn't need to by any odd items to use.
