Back to the Roots Sunflower Organic Windowsill Planter Kit - Grows Year Round, Includes Everything Needed for Planting

Never did I expect for them to take off like this. First off, the whole kit is really cool for many different reasons. Getting children involved in the process is important and I think every class, in every school, everywhere, should have a couple of these. Second, such an easy process that my two year old was able to take part in. The soil block is definitely enough. You just need to make sure you soak it long enough and in enough water. Comes with about 8 seeds in each pack. Out of the 8 green beans, 6 sprouted, and 4 of those have taken off (see pics). Watermelon took a bit longer. DON'T GET discouraged. They do sprout. Some take longer than others. I planted the ones in the middle first, waited to see what happened, and then planted the rest of the seeds after I transferred the original seedlings. I'm not sure I'm going to have much luck, due to my lack of gardening experience. But if I can do this, anyone can, especially if you know what you're doing. The value is great due to everything the kit contains. Targeting kids and including both interesting and educational aspects makes this product wonderful. I WILL be ordering more. 😊

This was a really fun activity to do with my 5 yr old. She got sooo much joy out of layering the yellow and red sand, planting the seeds and decorating the jar with the included stickers. I thought she would lose interest after the seeds were planted because I’ve seen the disappointment in my other children during gardening activities when they realize it takes time for seeds to sprout and plants to grow lol. But my little one stayed interested in it until the very end. It was the most exciting part of her morning was running out to the kitchen to see how much her little garden grew. It was so freaking adorable. And the greens we grew were really very tasty and I ate a great deal of them. The kit comes with a pamphlet where your child can draw what they see as their jar grows. I was surprised at how fast they grew. We planted the seeds and literally next day they were starting to sprout. They grew super fast and by the third or fourth day we had some pretty great growth going on. They give you a lot of seed too. You definitely do not have to pour the whole packet at once. They give you enough seed to grow the jar like 3 or 4 times at least which I think is a great value for the price. The kit was supposed to come with a lid but for some reason mine did not. Although all the other contents were there. Now that we are done with this kit, I am repurposing the glass jar for other things. I have been making my espresso in it every morning lol.

Just a wonderful sunflower growing kit! It comes in a large mason jar filled with organic potting soil. The lid has two holes poked into it. The instructions were easy to follow. I have placed it under a grow light to start the germination process. Hoping to get a beautiful Sunflower in a few weeks. Good value for the money. And it’s guaranteed! So if for some reason it doesn’t grow, I just contact the company and they will replace it. It will certainly add a bright spot of yellow to my succulent garden. Very happy with this.

This was fun while it lasted. The plants grew quickly and got taller than I thought it would which surprised the kids and I. The stickers were also a cute idea we did while waiting for the plant to grow. It showed the responsibility with waking up and taking turns spraying water on it. Once it was in full bloom it lasted maybe four more days and than it began to wilt and fall over. They may just be with us moving it around and studying how the plant grew from the soil. Easy to with instructions. The direction we’re step by step. A smaller plant that can easily fit on a window seal.

I got these as a gift for my son and he loved them as a homeschool project. The inside of the boxes were super awesome and filled in fun facts and areas to track growth. They were super easy to use and get started, I'd give it 5 stars but we has some hickuos with the watermelon and they died off. Unfortunately our yard bunnies ate the green beans before they took off as well but they were definitely going strong! All and all will definitely buy it again, was very reasonable priced.

Our kit came with no instructions or stickers. It was fun putting it together.

Great fun with the kids. Used these to shoes my kiddos how to grow something for themselves. It was simple, easy kid friendly fun. Also EBT approved!

I got this and within the first week I got two sprouts. One died off immediately. The other never grew beyon 1/2 inch. I have grow/heat lights too. I tried 5 more, per instructions...the same thing. 2 sprouts one died and one didn't thrive. I believe this is a gimmick and I was a sucker!.
