Q: the aube TH135-01-B Hydronic millivolt Heating Non-programmable Thermostat does not turn boiler on, why by Honeywell

The relay switch in the controller is just a switch. I had to supply 12VDC in series with the relay switch in order for my Aube thermostat to recognize the switch closure. It may be the boiler you are trying to hookup also needs power supplied in addition to the switch.

Q: does anyone know if this model replaces the 135-02? I put the 135-02 in 2006,it now needs to be replaced.

Susan,The 135-02 is a 230v non programmable thermostat. It is still made and you should replace it with the same. It is a European model and I do not know where you are located, but the 135-01 is a 24 volt US model. Do not replace one with the other.

The Honeywell TH135-01-B/U Hydronic Heating Non-programmable Thermostat is only recommended for applications that are 24 volts (24Vac).

Q: does it have anticipation?

The purpose of anticipation is to avoid overheating as a result of the thermal energy stored in a hydronic system, which will continue to radiate heat for some time after the heat demand has been satisfied. A typical anticipator simply shuts off the heat when the thermostat is a few degrees below the desired temperature, based on the assumption the sysem will continue to radiate heat after the heat is turned off.The Aube thermostat has something better than an anticipator, it has a proprotional adaptive mode (you can enable or disable) which continuously learns when the best time is to turn off the heat to satisfy the demand. It examines the previous heating cycles and proprotionally adjusts the duty cycle of the current heat demand to achieve the desired temperature without overshooting or undershooting. This mode is set by one of the small switches under the cover and I think the default setting is for this mode to be disabled and the conventional mode to be selected.It is a very valuable feature, as the cycling needs can change throughout the day depending on changing conditions, rather than having a preset value which can't adapt.
