Here's the truth, biting nails & fingers is a bad form of OCD. This product helps break that bad habit. I tried a different product recently, which worked ok but was in a pen form - Nail Quail. The problem with that product was, 1. Expensive 2. Not much product in the pen. 3. On first opening most of the product spilled all over the floor and my pants. Total waste of money. Will not buy again and don't recommend it to anyone. Good news: So far so good with this new stuff. Bottle is a bit strange with a wide plastic opening, but let's not get distracted from the goal: end a really horrible OCD behavior. Been applying in the AM for the past 4-5 days and have only caught a taste of how bad this stuff is only once or twice. Trust me, it's really bad. Product doesn't smell good when wet, probably because it has some solvent like nail polish in it. Once it dries, it isn't really noticable on the nails.. doesn't look like a clear coat or anything like that. Very very faint bit of shine to the tips of my nails. Doesn't wash off and lasts throughout the day. Needs reapplication each AM. I also have the issue where I pick at the cuticle skin on my nails, but I've cut down on that. There isn't much sense picking at the cuticles if I can't then bite then off. Yeah, gross. This sounds weird, but I'm starting to be proud of my fingers and nails. If you bite your nails and fingers, you know exactly what I mean. I don't need to explain how biters hide their fingers and nails. Will buy this product again. May even stock up because this is such a tough thing to kick.

I have been a really bad nail biter for most of my life, but for the past 10 years I’ve gone on and off the habit. I’ve used a few different polishes over the years but this one by far is the most effective. It goes on relatively clear and thin and does not dry thick like other polishes that can result in peeling off easily. As for the taste, it is the most strong and offensive by far. A tiny taste completely pervades your mouth with the taste and stays there until you drink something to make it go away. Other polishes have a bad taste that will subside quickly. Not only does it keep me from putting my fingers in my mouth, but it keeps my hands away from my face period, because even the smell will get the taste in my mouth. It repels me completely. It doesn’t just remind me to not bite my nails, it makes me not want to bite them ever again. Some reviews say the taste fades. The bottle says to apply every 12 hours and I recommend that. I have applied it once a day and it’s still effective, but by the second day the taste is not there as much. As long as you do every 12 hours it works great and it does not show obviously on your nails.

The "jar" is huge, so I liked that. But reapply every 12 hours? Come on. It seemed to dry pretty quick, which is great for a toddler. But the smell triggered a migraine for me. I don't know how something could smell *THAT* potent, and wear off after a few hours. My 2 year old has gotten into biting his nails. The reviews seemed good enough, but it just didn't work and I could not open the jar again after that

The product is great, I mean it tastes terrible my 8 year old tells me, but it made him sick! Not sure if he has an allergy but on the second day( having only put his fingers near his mouth 3 times since beginning because it was working) he had devoloped a hoarse voice and said after putting his fingers in his mouth each time he felt nauseated and his mouth wouldn't stop watering. I thought maybe it was a cold or something but we forgot to re-apply for a day or two and the next application caused the same symptoms but with increased severity. I waited a week and tried one more time (I feel bad about it) but he lost his voice entirely after that application, pediatrician said stop applying something's not right. So just a warning, watch your child for these symptoms. Bummer, too cause it was really working!

This product worked wonders. I bought this to keep my teen son from biting his nails, he would bite way down to stubs. Once I presented this nail product to him as a solution to stop his biting. He begged me not to put it on his nails because it smelled like his mother's nail polish remover and he just couldn't stand the smell. He said "give me chance and I promise I will stop on my own"! And sure enough he did stop and now he has nails and his fingers look healthy. This product worked without even using a drop. I highly recommend this product. I wish I had taken before pictures but nonetheless it works.

I thought all these nail biting liquids were the same. I was wrong - this has a bad nail polish smell to it. The first one I bought was odorless, but it was tiny and per ounce cost was expensive. This is cheap, larger volume, but stinky.

This stuff works great for my dog who bites her one nail. I’m Not sure why she’s suddenly started this, but she had absolutely destroyed her one nail and this stuff works. Of course because she’s in and out of the house and with the snow, we need to reapply it.

Stopped my son biting

The plastic bottle of nail polish came badly packaged with just the Amazon bubble envelope , no box to protect the bottle The bottle came dented and with the cover slightly skewed and it leaked . Applied to both my son and daughter as per instructions , they proceeded to suck their thumbs like any other day. 2nd try : I applied 2 coats and my daughter is so disgusted with that bitter taste that she didn't suck her thumb for the whole day.

This didn't work for us: it doesn't stay on long, maybe an hour or two, and is nto such a deterrent taste wise. We found another that was more effective but I think these are trial and error, some work better than others for different people.
