Libraton PVC Cutter 1-5/8"
Operates easily and cuts with no problem, but the cuts are not very straight. Between 1/16" - 1/8" off of being square. I have only used it to test how well it works so I was only cutting about 1" from the pipe end so? It might cut a little straighter if cutting away from the end, but I doubt it. I tried both heavy and thin wall 1" PVC pipe with same results. The crooked cut isn't enough to cause any problems or leaks, I just like cuts as straight as possible. Saw cuts are often just as far from being straight as this cutter. The small slide button is only there to release the pin that the blade pivots on. When you slide the button/switch away from the pin, that allows you to then remove the pin allowing you to remove the blade if replacement is required. The appearance had me thinking it was to reset the blade to open position. That's not the case. After playing with the cutter a little while trying to reset the blade for the next use, I discovered that all you have you have to do is open the grip levers all the way. The blade then pops to the open position very quickly so be ready and keep fingers clear. I noticed several questions asking how to reset the blade so that's why I mention this. Instructions are the worst and have the worst broken English I've ever seen. They even double replete one sentence directly after the prior one.

Very easy to use and cut pipe with this
I'm 82, hate to admit it but not quite as strong these days. The pipe cutter is great. Very easy to use, shape as can be, cuts quick and clean with little effort.

Junk design - Will not do work designed for
Old PVC pipe cutter's blade failed after about 15 cuts due to teeth that moves the blade failed. Decided to purchase this higher end replacement. This cutter had high reviews, so spent more money to get better tool First use was to make a couple cuts in 3/4" schedule 40 pvc tubing After just the second cut the tool failed. Operating the squeeze handle failed to close the blade This was exactly the same failure that my previous cutter had. Poor design, the cutter functions by moving a very thin blade by engaging teeth on back side to lever. The teeth wore down in the first use. After extensive research, it seems most PVC cutters use this same poor design. The cutter "gear" wears away with little use. Did not return because it was not worth the effort to drive to the closest drop off center, and determined other cutters, despite the price, were no better because of the similar poor design of the blade operation. Lots of better ways to cut PVC pipe: Hack saw, SawsAll, Skil Saw, Miter box, and Battery powered Cutting tools. Note: I purchase a lot through Amazon and have always been satisfied - first unsatisfactory experience. This product deserves my Rating of 1 Star

Be careful, don’t twist this type of blade sideways
Great having a tool for larger sized pipe, easier, quicker and much straighter than using sawzall or a piece of string Good price

Five minutes out of the box..clean cut on 1 1/2 sched 40 PVC
I watched the videos and advise everyone buying this tool to watch them too. The hints about how to manipulate the tool for small or soft pipe are worthwhile and while I didn't need the hint for cold weather (It was 93 degrees in the shade here when I tested it) I'm sure that the hint to heat up the pipe in cold weather with some hot water or other heat (blow dryer, heat gun) to keep it from shattering or splintering while cutting would be too. The thing I was most concerned about was whether I would have the hand strength to use it. I am over 72 years old, female and have disabling conditions in hands and arms that make them pretty weak. These cut without excessive force having to be applied to the handles. I discovered a couple "hints" myself (maybe people who work with PVC cutters know these things but this is my first time with cutters like these. I have struggled with hacksaws and sawsall, dremel tools, etc in the past and this was the easiest ever and best part, no electricity needed). First, work on a solid surface if possible. Lay the pipe down flat, and put the cutters around it. It is easier to make a perfect level right angle cut across the whole pipe. If you have to cut where you can't lay the pipe flat, take a couple seconds to make sure its at the right angle when you first engage the cutter edge and if not, adjust it then. Second, don't rush it. It will be quick enough, trust me. Don't rush the compression on the handles and don't try to use it like scissors on paper. Press the ratchet handles together slowly, and take a second or two between each cut to check your position and stability as well as that of the tool. That's about it. Very pleased so far. I have made about ten cuts on my project so far including two practice cuts. I got better at it. The tool does not feel loose or stressed and the cutter blade seems to be as sharp on each one, so far. I gave 3 stars for accuracy which may be unfair to the tool, because I had a few that were not perfectly even. But that just means that the tool doesn't quite do everything for you. I had a "learning curve" and I'm still on it. But there were NO burrs or splinters and no cuts that I could not use to fit into and glue the pipe and joiners up tight. If it fell apart today, I would still feel like I got my money's worth, frankly, it saved so much time and agita.
