Safe for my severe multiple food allergies
Preface: I have multiple food and chemical allergies so I had to be very selective when choosing which supplements to buy. I have a terrible immune system right now and needed to start taking supplements since my diet is basically nonexistent due to the severity of my intestinal health. I had these softgels for about a month without having taken them due to being too scared to try something new which could potentially put me in the hospital or worse. Almost a week ago my health got so bad I had no choice but to TRY the supplements I had (these 10,000 IU Vit D3 by Solgar. So in the morning after I had an awful night and was not getting any better I popped one of these softgels with a lot of water. I had no noticeable bad reaction even after multiple hours of waiting it out. In fact I felt much better! So by the advice of my allergist I am taking two softgels per day, as he said 20,000 IU would be very beneficial for me since my Vitamin D3 levels were extremely low. I also started drinking pre-bottled Kombucha daily in the middle of the day (between the Vit D doses) and honestly I am doing really well considering how bad I was nearly a week ago. I know my allergist wanted me to try fermented foods but since I can't have dairy at all or any ingredient made from dairy kefir and yogurt was out, so was anything made with regular white distilled vinegar because I am THAT allergic to gluten that even the barely-there trace amounts left in it cause me major health problems. So long story short, these Vitamin D3 softgels are awesome! They have very few ingredients, and none of which I react badly to. Thanks, Solgar and Amazon!

Vtamin D
Solgar is a recognized name in the industry. Vitamin D is reported to have many health benefits. Your qualified medical practitioner can order a blood test to test for deficiency. As it is a fat soluble vitamin it IS possible to get too much Vitamin D, but this is not likely unless one takes more than one of these per day (Always follow your qualified practitioners advice). Vitamin D4 is available by prescription only, so Rx Vitamin D is not the same as OTC Vitamin D--They are similar but not exactly the same. I encourage you to ask your qualified practitioner to run various tests, but if a Vitamin D deficiency is noted then follow their directions to correct it. I trust that the Solgar brand is probably one of the better ones, and I have had no issues with these capsules. Amazon shipped them fast, without hassle, and at a fair price. I chose brand primarily based on other's reviews, and that is, at least in part, how I came up with the five star rating. It is worth noting that those in higher latitudes are more likely to be deficient in Vitamin D, and one study I read seemed to imply that more people might be deficient than are treated? Definitely one of those Vitamins on which to perform further research. The studies are simply lacking as this is not something that the big pharma companies can make any money off of.

Overall a Good Product
I like these Vitamin D3 gel caps because they're surprisingly small! Hard to believe they can fit that much Vit D3 into such a small capsule! (Large pills don't bother me, but I do like smaller ones if I have an option, but that's not why I bought these). The glass bottle they come in is really nice. The only flaw I have found with these (and I think this may be a flaw with most gel caps of any kind) is that they stick together. Luckily, it's not to the point that they won't "un-stick" or won't come out of the bottle--I just have to tap the bottom of the bottle on the table before I try to pour one out and they all come apart and I can pour one out. (We keep our house at around 74 or 75 degrees, so I don't think it's because they've gotten too hot and are melting together). Anyway, it's easy enough to just tap the bottle on the table before trying to pour one out, so it's hardly worth complaining about! :) I will definitely be purchasing these again.

Deficient no more.
I was severely deficient (17) in my Vitamin D when I did my blood test in July. I took the Solgar 10,000 D3 every day and have upped my D level to 78 by October. I also take the Cod Liver Oil every day which contains about 600 units. I have read extensively about the Vitamin D and its benefits. To get the most out of the D it needs to be taken with vitamin K. I take a low dose multiple that also contains the K vitamin. So far I have not had a cold or the Flu while everybody around me is getting sick. I also gave my son the D3 when he had a sore throat and looked like he was coming down with something. I gave him 30,000 units and he has recovered from any discomfort overnight. Vitamin D is the best kept secret that not too many doctors will tell you about, but its deficiency is a precursor to most major diseases. Majority of the population worldwide is deficient in this vitamin and yet not too many doctors really pay attention or are knowledgeable enough about its importance. Honestly I had to do my own research when the doctor sent me home as he was clueless in telling me how many units I should be supplementing to up my level. The best source of information is the Vitamin D Council. Don’t take my word for it go to their website and I am sure it will be an eye-opener for all who care to inform themselves and therefore take care of their health. The most precious commodity we all have.
