XXL Herb Keeper and Herb Saver – Glass Storage Container for Cilantro, Mint, Parsley, Asparagus, Keeps Greens Fresh for 2-3 Weeks

I bought this unsure if it would actually work. I am so impressed! In the winter I make a lot of soup and garnish with fresh herbs. Lately it's been taco soup or white chicken chili. Cilantro is a must and I usually buy 2 bunches at a time. After putting it in this herb keeper it lasted over a week and first time ever, we used it all and it was just as fresh on the last day as it was on the first. I bought one for my sister and I'm going to get another as a gift for a friend! It is a glass cylinder, so I decided to put it in the door. I recommend this since the shelves inside the fridge are higher traffic areas, I have a small fridge so I measured to make sure I could adjust the shelving to fit. It works perfectly! I did have to change the water after 4 or 5 days, easy to do. I am so glad I won't have any more wasted herbs! This item works really well!

This is my second one of these that I have purchased. This one was for a gift. I have had mine for a couple years now, and I absolutely love it. It seriously increases the life span of any and all herbs that I store in this. I normally use it for herbs but it is big enough to be used to store asparagus as well. It is very simply to use. Out of numerous herb keepers that I have tried, this one is absolutely the best. It is taller than most but not so much so that it doesn't easily fit in my fridge. The extended handle on the top is a different design than most and it is a welcome difference. Not many herb keepers have a clip built in to the product that allows you to lift the cup out of the water and clip it to the top rim. This is a great feature since it allows you to access the herbs with both hands. That helps tremendously. Most herb keepers on the market are made out of plastic. I really do love that this product is made of glass. I try to avoid using plastics with all food, so I definitely appreciate that. Additionally, the glass is not thin or flimsy. The tower is very rigid and durable. I have recommended this specific product to many friends, many of whom end of loving it. I definitely recommend this product. It will change the way you cook and drastically increase your use of fresh herbs in your diet, which is never a bad thing for both health and flavor.

So far I've only used this herb keeper to extend the life of leftover cilantro. There is always more cilantro in a bunch than I need for any of my recipes. I had managed in the past to only keep the cilantro fresh for about 1 1/2 weeks. Using this herb keeper, the leftover cilantro stayed fresh for 3 1/2 weeks allowing me to use all the cilantro in various recipes. It might have kept the cilantro fresh even longer but I forgot to change out the water during the last week. Just make sure that you check to see if your refrigerator has the capacity for this container. I had to put mine in the door storage area as it is over 12" tall and my refrigerator is 28cf.

I’ve done a home version of this using a cup and a ziplock bag for a while. This was such a nice looking keeper and I was looking for something more permanent. It’s very nice and works as promised. It’s large size can hold a lot. The down side is the rod and the lip holder keeps falling off so reassembling is necessary quite often. Otherwise this product would have been a five star product.

This review is less about the extension of the life of the herbs/veggies/greens and more about the quantity the thing can hold. I go through a lot of cilantro, many of my recipes use 2+ cups at a time when I double them so I usually buy herbs in bundles at the store and I got this to try and extend the life of said cilantro and because it is big (like it only fits in one spot in my fridge kindof big so I would recommend measuring and figuring out where you’re putting it before you buy). I was fighting to get the cilantro situated properly in the thing for a good 20 minutes before I realized I wouldn’t have the patience to do this regularly. The ends of the cilantro should sit in the water but whenever I would lower the plastic holder into the glass jar, the leaves would stick to the side of the glass, pulling themselves out of the plastic container and away from the water which defeats the purpose. It does work well with less cilantro, but I don’t want to preserve just a few sprigs at a time. So for my initial purposes this doesn’t really work for me, but if you’re just buying a small amount at a time it could be ideal for you. HOWEVER, it is pretty perfect for the amount of green onions and asparagus I go through and I honestly may order a second one for that reason. I’m going to wait and see if it actually extends the life of my produce first but it’s basically the fancy version of my poor man’s glass jar and plastic film so I’m fairly certain it will do the job admirably. TLDR: pretty good design overall but consider the type and quantity of produce you’re trying to preserve before you buy as well as your fridge space. UPDATE: I’ve been using this for weeks now and I love it! I’ve upped my rating from 4 stars to 5. It definitely doesn’t work for me for the amount of cilantro I use but it is amazing for green onions and asparagus. I’ll be buying a second one!

I purchased this and didn’t use it for a few months. When I finally did, I loved it. Kept my herbs fresh and crispy. THEN one day just a couple of weeks later I went to get it out of the fridge and the glass part slipped out and shattered!! Glass spread everywhere in my fridge and kitchen floor - I was picking glass from the cracks in the fridge days after. It is a large size item (and I love that about it) but without a handle it’s just a nuisance. I’ll be looking for one with a handle.

I love fresh herbs but it is a challenge to use them all before they start turning. This device is amazing. It stood up to the test with curly parsley and later I added in some cilantro and dill which have an even shorter shelf-life. It has been many days and everthing is as fresh as the day I bought it. I am a little nervous that it is so tall and made of glass- but I am just really mindful when using it or cleaning it. The glass is probably why it works so well. I waited for the amazon prime day sale to treat myself to this. If you are tired of throwing away slimy herbs you stored in a cup of water, don't hesitate to buy this product!

Zugegeben er ist ein etwas hoch. Aber da passen alle Kräuter, auch die ganz hohen hinein. Und sie bleiben erstaunlich frisch. Also, Höhe messen, und wenn diese passt, kaufen!
