Great replacement casters for office chair if you need brakes
My Ikea office chair worked great for several years, but the casters don't roll very well. Furthermore, once I got an under-desk elliptical exercise machine, I suddenly needed the chair to not roll backwards. After trying caster cups and even installing a handle on my desk to hang onto, I finally decided to look for a better solution. This set of roller blade style casters with built-in brakes seemed to fit the bill, but unfortunately Ikea uses a slightly smaller stem size than the 7/16" (11mm) stems that are almost universal in North America. So I got a 7/16" drill bit and slightly enlarged the sockets in the chair legs. The new casters then fit perfectly, and now the chair works great for my purposes. The brakes are engaged all the time because I usually don't want the chair rolling around. With these brakes, the chair really stays rigidly in one spot and I can do my leg exercises unimpeded. If you disengage the brakes, the chair rolls quite smoothly, and if you engage the brakes, it won't roll at all. I love these casters; they do exactly what I needed and so far, after a week's use, seem quite well built and stable. If that changes, I'll update this review. But so far, they seem to be a great product at a very good price.

My chair is now quiet on my hardwood floors
Added these to a Walmart office chair and love the breaking action and how quiet they are compared to the old Wheels

Roll wheely well
They run smooth (you chair can escape on tiles). They locks are kinda poorly designed, need a lot of force at an odd angle, using my hands as doing it with size 11's isnt working. But yup theyre a good set of casters.

They're Excellent Caster Wheels!
They pivot smoothly. They roll smoothly. The "tread" has a little squish to it that smooths out bumps and helps the wheel grip. The brakes/locks work, though I find I have to use my hand to unlock them; perhaps I could do it with my feet if I were wearing shoes. I didn't use these for a chair, instead I used four in a set of shelves. Installing them required some custom work (for a variety of reasons) so I can't speak to how well they would install/fit in an application they were designed for.

Only buy if you really need the brakes!
These casters are one of the best priced 3 inch soft casters on Amazon! At first, I was hesitant to order seeing that there were no reviews. Now that I’ve installed & tested them, I can now strongly recommend them! They are very high quality and super silent on my tile floors. Very smooth rolling, these chair casters are. Installation is dead simple! Pull out the old casters and plug the new bad boys in. That’s it. An easy & affordable way to upgrade your office chair. 1 month of use Update: I notice that every now & then, the protruding brakes will jab into my Achilles’ tendon. It’s not exactly painful and doesn’t cause injury; but, every time my Achilles’ tendon gets jabbed, it’s a bit jarring and concerning b/c that is something that should not be happening on a regular basis. It’s not medically sound. I can get used to the protruding brakes and be more careful when my Achilles is close to the brakes but why? I would be way more satisfied by packing them up and returning them and then purchasing a competing brand that doesn’t have those annoying brakes. Purchase only if you really need brakes. I find that I don’t really need the brakes!

Mediocre product
The wheels are smooth and rolls okay but the wheels do this weird chattering noise if moved remotely fast. Kind of annoying since I roll around a lot in my chair. Locks seem to work good but they could of used a better bearing in the swivel.

This is why it’s worth it
You’ve got a few optimal-comfort spots to roll your chair into at the desk. If you’re like me, you casually push yourself away when you’ve got your feet resting on anything. I’ve got back problems. Poor focus. Simply put, I need to create a ‘less friction’ environment. SO Here’s what I did that switches up the game: - pull myself into the perfect spot, lock 1 wheel off to the side. This can give enough resistance to hold me still whiling working + I can get up and sit down with the chain remaining in it’s original spot, with the ability to roll a beautiful pivot. 🌟 This keeps you aligned and able to always have your best spot “saved”. Life changer folks. Didn’t buy it for that perk. - NOW the main reason I bought; so I can lock the wheels and not slide from my foot rest. All I gotta do is lock one more wheel on the opposite side (2 total) and it’s a wrap! I don’t move and when I gotta give up, I unlock the wheel on the side I gotta stand, pivot the chair from the desk and be on my way.. It occasionally slides a bit on the pivot, but that’s my dirty floor with saw dust. I suspect hardwood doesn’t play games. If you’re buying these so your good quality desk chair can hold still in a given position, then yea they're great over here.
