I use lithium batteries in my LED flashlights so that I don’t have to deal with corroding batteries ruining the flashlight. But for certain applications, the flashlights are just too bright. By replacing one of the batteries with this dummy battery, I can dim it down to an acceptable level.

It is only a conductor, likely meant to be used with a AAA sized higher voltage battery. Keep in mind that the sleeve makes the "negative" terminal of the conductor slightly recessed so make sure your device does assume your battery is perfectly flat or slightly raised. (though since it is just a conductor, you could probably use this unit backwards just fine)
