Great replacement part!
Very well made. This was a direct replacement for my application and was half the price. Very happy : )

Great replacement switch
Have a harbor freight 8 inch compound mitre saw made by Chicago Pneumatic the switch went belly up in under a year. Call harbor freight help line “ we don’t support that saw any more “. Did a bit of digging and found this replacement switch. Installed in about 5 minutes. But had to trim one of the tabs under handle for 100% fit. No big deal. Saw working again I ordered another just in case switch.

Check Your Wiring
This switch works fine, but is NOT the correct switch for an older Harbor Freight compound sliding miter saw. You need the SW38D for full function. This switch works if you do not hook up the brake wires. I’m giving it a high rating because it is built well and functions fine.

Not made for electronic Brake
As simple ON/OFF perhaps 3 stars. As 4 pole On/Off with Brake, zero stars, so I star overall. This SW38A is not for a saw with an electrical Brake. They need to show picture of bottom connectors, where it shows once trigger is pulled, all connections are made. Release trigger and no connections made. Continuity reading on meter will show you this. If you have a saw with a Brake, then this will not work. You need the type of switch that closes only one side when pulled then temporally closes the other side when released for the Brake to work. No additional information on how this SW38A works, like the SW38C orSW38D, which both give product information about the Brake circuit. Will send back since NO Brake function. The SW38A is just an On/Off, switch with 4 posts. Could use just for ON/OFF function, but do not hook up for Brake, you will burn up motor since all connections are turned on when trigger is pulled. You DO NOT want the Motor and the BRAKE on at the same time. If you have a saw with a Brake, you might consider the SW38C or SW38D, but be careful to wire correctly.

This is a DPST NO PB switch. It might not work in your saw.
I bought this switch because one reviewer said it worked in his Harbor Freight miter saw, which is the type I have. If your saw has a switch that breaks both sides of the power (both poles normally open) this is the type of switch you need. The mounting holes BTW are 1/2" on centers, not metric.HOWEVER, if your saw has a brake winding (like mine) you need an alternate action break before make DPST PB (Double Pole, Single Throw Push Button) switch. The important point here is alternate action. As you pull the trigger the switch opens the break winding contact and then makes the run winding contact. I tested my switch with a DVM poking holes through the package to verify switch action. I never installed the switch. It appears to be fairly well made but I cannot attest to anything past that.

Replaced defective Chicago electric trigger switch
Worked as a replacement trigger switch for my Chicago electric (harbor freight) 10" compounding miter saw. Mounting location for wiring was on the side instead of the bottom like the original switch but the terminals were still able to be connected. Couple minor bits of plastic needed to be trimmed/ remove inside the handle area to allow the new switch to be mounted in the original location. Easy to do with a dremel or a multi tool (which is what i used because it was readily available) and after reassembly, you couldn't even tell anything had been modified.
