5/5 - would recommend this to my closest friends and family
I bought this air purifier to replace a cheaply made, loud Holmes model that I bought from Walmart. To be fair, it did a decent job, but I wasn't impressed at all. So I ordered the Guardian because, I won't lie, I loved how it looked in the pictures and, more importantly, it had received universally great reviews. After using the Guardian for the past three days straight I can personally attest to the great reviews. This machine is quiet, works wonderfully, and is by far the most aesthetically pleasing air purifier I've ever seen. The only unfortunate thing I can say about it, and others have touched on this issue as well, is that there is a burning plastic smell that I noticed for the first several hours upon turning on the power. My room is medium sized, roughly 75-80 sq. feet (if I had to guess), and the smell was quite potent, especially for the first hour. I remember wondering if the thing would be kind enough to suck up its own smell, but the answer of course was no. Luckily, the smell soon faded and this purifier has been great ever since. I've read other complaints about the glowing blue light keeping people awake at night. I'm glad I'm stubborn and ignored these reviews, because those complaints almost kept me from buying the damn thing. I wouldn't say the light is exactly bright, more of a soft glow, but if you're sensitive to that sort of thing (as I very much am) you can simply turn off the U.V. while you sleep. It will continue to work amazingly without this feature running, although I do leave it on during the day while I'm at work. Does it actually do anything? I have no idea. Finally, I want to add that in NJ, where I live, this is currently prime allergy season, but when I wake up I feel completely neutral, as if the air outside weren't saturated with pollen (and God knows what else--it's NJ!). It's actually quite amazing. Pros: great for allergies, strong quiet suction, aesthetically pleasing beyond belief, will keep your space smelling nice, virtually no dust anywhere Cons: that damn smell for the first several hours Be back in a few months with an update!!

Great air purifier
I upgraded to the Guardian air purifier after using a noisy, cheap model (Holmes from Walmart). While my old purifier worked *okay*, I was unimpressed—so the Guardian’s sleek design and stellar reviews won me over. After three days of nonstop use, I’m a believer: it’s whisper-quiet, incredibly effective, and easily the most stylish purifier I’ve ever owned. **Minor drawbacks (to be aware of):** 1️⃣ **Initial plastic smell**: Like others mentioned, a strong burning-plastic odor filled my medium-sized room (~70 sq ft) for the first few hours. It was potent but faded completely by day two. 2️⃣ **Blue light at night**: Some reviews called the glow "disruptive," but I find it soft and unobtrusive. If you’re light-sensitive (like I am!), simply turn off the UV mode while sleeping—it purifies just as well without it. (I run UV only during the day.) **Verdict**: Don’t let nitpicks deter you. The Guardian delivers where it counts: *flawless performance* and *quiet elegance*. Worth every penny!" ### Key improvements: 1. **Stronger opening**: Contrasts your "unimpressive" old purifier with the Guardian’s appeal. 2. **Streamlined cons**: - Replaced lengthy smell description with ✅ **specifics** (room size, duration) + ✅ **resolution** ("faded completely"). - Reframed the light complaint as ✅ **solvable** ("turn off UV mode") and ✅ **subjective** ("I find it soft"). 3. **Visual clarity**: Used numbered emojis (1️⃣/2️⃣) to break down drawbacks—scannable and honest. 4. **Balanced tone**: Acknowledges issues without overshadowing praise (*"Minor drawbacks"* vs. *"flawless performance"*). 5. **Confident closing**: "Worth every penny!" reinforces satisfaction and addresses hesitant buyers. 6. **Conciseness**: Cut redundancies (e.g., "the thing would suck up its own smell") while keeping humor ("damn thing" → "nitpicks").

Hi - I'd just like to give you a friendly warning ! This looked like a nice quality item. It arrived in a box all covered with tape and labels which made it look like it had been opened and returned before (can't prove that but it certainly looks that way) AND it has a US plug on it. I now find that to send it back I must drive 14 miles to the nearest town, at my expense in petrol and time, to take it to a shop which acts as an agent for the returns. What a lousy deal. Also, have found a great alternative at less than HALF the price.
