I am writing a review after using for years now. This item has superb quality and lasted very long and been used hundreds of times by me and others. Grinding up fresh herbs for dishes and preserving is very simple with this smaller one. It will last a long time for me.

This is a great looking mortar and pestle. It is nicely ridged on the inside to help the grinding process. It works very well at grinding up rosemary leaves, which is my primary use. I'm new to using a mortar and pestle, and have found that it works best with relatively small amounts of rosemary leaves - if you put too much in, the leaves just press and slide against each other instead of grinding against the mortar. That's something I'm sure all true cooks know, but was a tiny epiphany for me :-). Very happy with this purchase! NOTE: Slight brownish color on the bottom of the mortar in the picture is due to quite a few rosemary leaves grinding sessions.

I love this mortar and pestle! I use it frequently to make one made pesto. It grinds easily, and has a textured bottom so that the leaves and garlic cloves don't slide away as you are grinding, even after you add the olive oil! I imagine this would be great for other foods, pills, or just about anything! Cleaning this is also a breeze. I was afraid that the dark green from the basil might stain it, but it rinses right out. When I didn't clean it right away and it dried first, I just soaked it in a little hot soapy water and it wiped clean. I also looks fantastic, and feels amazingly sturdy (Well, it is solid marble, so it IS amazing sturdy!). I keep it on the kitchen counter because it looks so nice that it makes for a great decoration. This is definitely the best deal out there for mortar and pestles!

This did not really work for my use unfortunately, but I have no reason to believe it's not a sturdy, high-quality item. I purchased it for *very* small cat pills. Often times the pill would fly back out when I tried to crush it initially. Also, I was able to see the medication getting stuck to and then accumulated in all the ridges and even to the pestle. Trying to get all of the meds out and trying to clean it after proved annoying at best, plus I wasn't really sure how much pill was being delivered each time. My guess is this would be perfect for small items that don't have to be ground down to such a fine powder. It's a nice item I definitely will keep around for spices and such.

I love this! I'd never bought a used item like this so I took a chance on a great price and got a PERFECT product. Marble sturdy and beautiful. I get so many compliments! I'd highly advise others who haven't checked out used products before to check it out bc it looked brand new and you get such a great price and help the environment and others in many different ways! I love it.

I had this mortar and pestle saved in my cart for awhile before finally pulling the trigger and buying it. I got it because I had a nice harvest from my herb garden this summer, and I wanted to experiment with using crushed herbs for cooking. It does a great job. One major note for this purchase was that the price fluctuated quite a bit--sometimes it was around $25, sometimes it was more like $12. I bought it when it was $12.50, and I felt like that was a great deal on this mortar and pestle. It is heavy, and feels substantial when I use it. I am happy with the quality, and it is nice to have on hand for when I want to crush my herbs and spices. I would recommend.

This thing is great! I purchased it a year ago, and it has been a handy and stylish kitchen tool. It’s the perfect size if you cook for one or two and is very sturdy. It is a bit difficult to get clean, but that hasn’t bothered me too much. The remnants of previously-ground food items don’t tend to flake off during later use. I love this little thing and definitely recommend!

This is just what I needed to grind my dog’s pills into powder to “hide” inside his food. I don’t worry about cleaning after use since I’m using it for the same medication on a daily basis. The powder does somewhat adhere to the mortar.
