great chair at a great price
I did what I hardly ever do with this item--I hit one-click order before reading the product reviews. I was nervous about the casters as many had written about them. The chair arrived ahead of the scheduled time and I was able to assemble it with minimal effort. (I used my drill with a hex bit to make it go faster. I did not have any problems with the casters, they were solid and fit well with a moderate aount of pressure applied. This chair looks great with my antique roll-top desk and I find it very comfortable (although I do not sit at it "all day" if I were using it in an work situation, however I do not think that it would cause me great pain if I were in it for long periods of time. There are some rough areas to the finish, however I chalk that up to being real wood and there's going to be some imperftions. Over all I am extremely pleased with this chair.

Nice chair but buyer beware
I have a small wooden desk that belonged to my great grandfather. I wanted a good, vintage style chair to match the period of the desk. This chair fits the bill well! The chair has a classic elegance. It is well designed, sturdy and stable. I'm an averaged sized guy and there is no danger of tipping. It was simple to put together. I had little trouble getting the casters in. It just takes a little positioning and pressure. There was no need to use a hammer or a lot of force, as some have said. It adjust up and down. You can lock it to prevent it from leaning back. However the back spring is firm so that I can lean back on it without it laying back. The chair presents firm support for your back, but you can rock back with some force from your legs if you want when it is not locked upright. I gave the chair 4 stars though it deserves 5, except for the customer service. The buyer should beware the poor customer service of Office Star Products of Ontario, Canada that supplies the chair! My chair was missing a small side brace. It took me a month of calls and multiple emails to get Office Star to send me the part. I talked to Pablo who said to just send an email and I would get the part in a week. Then a week later I got an email from Monica Castillo who asked me to fill out a form, send proof of purchase and a picture. I did that the same day. 8 and 16 days later I asked for an update. Finally 20 days later Monica let me know that now Rick Gardea had the process. After several emails, Rick sent me the part and it arrived today - a month later. At no time did Pablo, Monica or Rick apologize for the missing part, the hassle or the long wait - even when I commented to them that they had never apologized! ha ha It got funny after a while! You wonder what goes on in their minds, knowing I would eventually do a review. You would think that even if they don't really care that I had a bad experience, they would try to protect the image of the company. Oh well. However, I did get the part and it's a great chair for a good price. You probably won't have any problems, but if you do, be prepared for slow and ungrateful customer service.

Bought and enjoy FOUR; Easy to assemble; Well packed
Well built and easy to assemble. We bought four chairs and assembled them. One chair was missing one key screw, which was easily purchased at a hardware store (6mm pan head 65mm long). We plan to add seat cushions (for reference: the dimensions for cushions would be to fit the seat which is about 16" across the back and 19" across the front, and the seat is 18" deep). The casters were easy to insert to metal holes leading me to guess that prior problems noted in reviews were resolved with a redesign. I lined up and clicked in 5 casters in each of 4 chairs without any issues at all. It did take "about an hour each" to put together, but at least half the time was unboxing and unpackaging the parts. The chairs were labeled "made in Thailand," and the careful packing ensured that all chairs arrived undamaged. Nevertheless, unpacking and collapsing the packaging to recycle or dispose took a non-trivial amount of time. Assembling was very easy, the only tool needed was a supplied allen wrench. Even thought it was definitely not necessary - I used a little wood glue on the wooden caps (which cover the screw holes) to ensure they stay put, and I used a rubber mallet to tap them in. I could have done by hand. The chairs roll well on our hardwood floor, and they are comfortable, and the mechanism for swivel and tilt seems to be of very good quality (we've used for a week without issue). We are very impressed at the quality, even more so at this price.

Great, beautiful office chair with a manufacturing defect: caster stem sleeves too narrow.
Great wood, great design. One big manufacturing flaw. Once assembled this real fruitwood looks and works great. Just what I needed. However the casters are the devil to fit in the caster stem sleeves. I measured the stem sleeves with a micrometer. They are too small! Folks are hammering in the small supplied casters using wood blocks and brute force. That's wrong, but it can work for some. As the other comments show, it doesn't work for all. I suspect that the black enamel paint used on the inside of the stem sleeves is part of the problem, but clearly as the measurements showed, the sleeves are too narrow! I've put in many many casters on office chairs over the years. THIS IS A DEFECT ON THIS CHAIR, in my opinion, supported by the measurements with the micrometer I took, supported by the comments of others having the same problem. I worked around it at some expense, using a grinder on a rotating tool (like a Dremel). I had too. I use bigger better casters so I can use the chair on thick carpet or laminate floors.

The chair is solid and stylish. I have used many high end office chairs but my personal preference for extended seating durations is a wooden chair. I bought the model without the arm rests as it allows me to move the chair in under the desk and closer to the monitor. It also helps in keeping the chair out of the way when not in use. I chose the antique white and it has a yellowish hue. Please see attached photos with a white background and yellow walls for context. I would recommend the plain white if you need it for your décor. Wheels are just okay for hardwood but I would probably purchase some aftermarket ones if you plan on moving it around a lot. Overall I am happy with my purchase and I feel this will last for years to come. I will update the review to reflect any issues.

It's a decent chair and the white is very white. Be careful installing the caster wheels. I broke one wheel after following instructions using a rubber mallet. Be careful to avoid striking the outer parts of the wheel. This is the second chair I bought. I broke a wheel on the first one too. I got a replacement from Home Depot.

I was expecting to have difficulties with the casters, as so many reviewers complained of them. First of all, I bought a good set of casters with softer tread to protect my floors. Installed them as directed, with a rubber mallet. You just have to give a good rap on the piece of wood provided (which fits exactly between the caster rollers!) The chair has a good deep seat, and can be raised and lowered easily. Moreover, the amount of "give" for the tilt can be calibrated very precisely. Very heavy and sturdy—it's not going to tip over! And it has a good-quality finish. (I bought the white chair—which is rather more creamy than bluish.) All in all, I'm very pleased, and would recommend this chair to anyone.

Very disappointed. It definitely doesn't look like any antique white furniture or paint I have purchased in the past. Doesn't match the colour on the screen. It appears as badly yellowed plastic. Haven't tried to assemble chair because I am going to try to paint it first.
