Eshu Skin Assist Shave Cream for Men, 6.4 Ounce

Glad I finally located it again. I started using this 3 years ago and the supplier discontinued the brand. I was lost and had to switch to a different Brand which I was not as happy with. By chance I found it on Amazon. I initially thought How Expensive for just shave cream. Honestly- this stuff lasted almost a year per container. You only need a finger tip amount and it lathers your entire beard. It also feels great when you are finished. This is my all time favorite - No more pumps or jells for me.

Bought this for my son based on some positive reviews thinking it was something special. Perhaps we got a sour batch---the jar we received is just plain awful. I've shaved about 6 times with it and that's enough. The smell is like rubber---like rubber gloves. I keep trying to find something positive about this shave cream that maybe I'm overlooking. But its just no good. Smells bad and is only marginally effective...not at all in the class of the better shave creams, like Taylor's of Old Bond Street, Musgo Real or Proraso. No where close. There are so many other great products. I'd hoped this was a new player, but I'd never consider Eshu again. To be fair, I'm a little suspicious that it is an off batch. But I wouldn't risk finding out.

For the price this stuff works pretty good. It does take very little to build up a very nice lather but that, to me, is where this shaving cream stops being a good product. Out of everything I've tried: 6 different taylor of old bond street creams, 2 Van der hagen soaps, 2 art of shaving creams, speick shaving cream and speick soap; the eshu offers the worst shave by comparison. It took more passes to get anywhere near the same shave and still was not as close as the others. It also leaves a residue on your face that you pretty much have to wash off to have that "clean" feel afterward. This stuff isn't "bad" by any means but the others I listed offer a closer shave with less passes. I tried with a DE, a straight razor and a mach 3 turbo (just to be sure). I used the whole container over several months before coming to write my review just in case there was a chance my face needed to get used to it or if I needed to prepare differently.

I bought this on a whim, while my wife was ordering some girl stuff from Sephora. I am glad I did. It is really good shaving cream. It has a strong citrus aroma (orange and lemon), which does not linger long. It is rich in oils to lubricate and moisturize both the beard and the skin. It works as advertised. A LITTLE dab will do ya. I expect this shave cream to last the better part of a year.
