This is a beautiful and highly functional kitchen knife. Use it for the full gamut of edged-tool needs in the kitchen - chopping, slicing, right up to cleaving heavy materials. Would have been 5 stars, but for a flaw in the fit/finish of the handle. The comfortable rounded wooden handle is too small in diameter to fill the metal blade bolster and handle butt that hold it in place. This results in an uncomfortably sharp raised ring of steel holding the ends of the wooden handle in place. It also leaves an open gap between the wood and the steel that may collect particles of food and/or liquids. The wooden handle is just turned to too small a diameter to fit snuggly in the steel butt and bolster.

This has become my daily use kitchen knife. Holds a sharp edge and cuts vegetables and meat like butter.

The blade is 8" long. It's a full sized knife. It has a good balance, quite comfortable. Happy with the purchase, very versatile knife. Should be a good general purpose tool for the kitchen. A stir fry killer for sure.
