Perfect for the kiddos!
I had been looking for a recorder that had some kind of keying system instead of simply holes to plug with your fingertips, because I work with kids that love the idea of playing the recorder but struggle to grasp the concept or Master the manual dexterity involved with completely covering the holes to it correctly play each note. I had given up and then this popped into my Amazon suggestions and I was immediately sold both because it was exactly what I was looking for and because of the price point. That being said, it has a wonderful timbre that is--in my opinion--superior to that of the quite expensive equivalent by a certain company from Japan that has a very good reputation for making musical instruments as well as some other stuff. The silicone key system works beautifully, and my one client in particular who really enjoys playing music but simply doesn't seem to be able to cover the holes in a conventional recorder has been delighted with this instrument. Now that manual dexterity is no longer an impediment, we have been able to focus on embouchure and air supply and we are moving towards teaching him to actually play some songs. And that is a wonderful thing. I only have two criticisms for this instrument, and they both come as somebody who's played woodwinds for over 20 years (although 20 years ago I was "but a lad"). First is that the very bottom note on the instrument is actually quite difficult to play correctly. When playing anything upbeat or loud, it tends to overblow (meaning I play a note that is much higher pitch than the note I'm trying to play). I struggle to even play that note by itself deliberately, with the note only playing correctly when I am using a very very light breath pressure. I have honestly largely treated the instrument as though it doesn't even play that note, because even with my many years of practice with the clarinet, saxophone, and recorder, I struggle with it and simply would rather avoid it then consistently get it wrong. My other criticism is that the notes which on the regular recorder are played by covering one of the two holes in one finger position rather than both of them are supposed to be played on this instrument by "resting" the finger on the silicone keypad rather than "pressing" it. I'm not sure if my large fingers are an issue here or not, but I have truly struggled with this as well and, although I am quite confident in my skill with woodwinds in general, I hope to be able to figure it out eventually and have even wondered if my instrument is defective. All together though I'm giving this five stars because I don't need my younger students to be able to play the chromatic scale, I need them to be able to play "hot cross buns" and "Mary had a Little Lamb," or potentially something as complicated as "Yankee Doodle."

Great quality!
This recorder made it so much easier for my son to learn to play, it doesnt sound as a very expensive recorder but it's perfect for an elementary school student. It seems pretty durable, it comes with a protecting case and it's easy too clean.

Required for School, Endorsed by Earplug Companies Everywhere
Bought two of these for my 8-year-old twins because school music class required it. My house now sounds like a medieval battlefield where every goose in the kingdom showed up to fight. On the bright side, the kids love it. They practice daily, sometimes at the exact same time, and call it a “concert.” I call it survival training. Cheap, sturdy, and guaranteed to make you question your life choices. Five stars, because it does exactly what the teacher asked for and because earplugs are sold separately.

This recorder will be music to your ears
Absolutely fantastic recorder. Perfect for s beginner or intermediate user. Press down buttons help with learning the functions of the device. The stunning white and pink is funz and makes it easy to find. Came with a song to try to play and a wonderfully sturdy holding case. 10/10 highly recommend.

Great for beginners
A great recorder for beginners and sounds amazing. The size is perfect for my hands and the green is perfectly vibrant. Only problem is the case. Sometimes it can get stuck and requires a bit of strength to take off. Other than that, it’s amazing!

Great recorder for a beginner
This is great recorder for a beginner, especially for elementary school students. The flaps make it easy to play without having to worry about fully covering the holes. The one I received was for Baroque fingering (the model number has a "-B' appended to it). The fingering chart is for both German and Baroque fingering, so pay attention to the G or B over certain notes. The moveable yet attached thumb rest is really nice to have. The bottom two keys have removable black dots for when one is ready to learn C# and D#. The thumb hole works fine for the first octave. For the second octave it works best if you press in the bottom side corner instead of straight down. It comes with a nice solid plastic case. The cap on the case is a little hard to put on but definitely won't open by accident. For older or more serious players I would recommend the Yamaha 300-series plastic recorders.

Great for young musicians
My recently-turned-7 year old has been interested in learning to play flute because she sees me play. Sometimes she toots one of the recorders I have but her fingers aren't quite long enough to reach, much less reliably cover the tone holes on a standard recorder. When I saw this Nuvo recorder a while back I put it in a list of things to consider getting her some time. After a month of home isolation with no end in sight, I thought this would be a good thing to try out and she *loves* it. She plays only a couple of songs so far (memorizing the fingerings, I haven't received a method book yet). I decided to purchase a second one for my 4 year old (who is not quite as petite as the 7 year old) and even she loves playing Hot Cross Buns. These recorders are just a hit. The intonation is good enough for a young musician. My kids don't have the skill to play an expensive recorder in tune either, so any impact of the unique tone hole sizes offered by this model are no issue. The "key" flaps seem fairly durable so far. I've told them to refrain from picking at them and I'm not about to be the one to ruin their things by accidentally pulling too hard. My kids aren't generally terribly rough with things, but they're little so they're not careful enough that I would let them hold any of my flutes either. So I think this instrument would be just fine at least in the hands of kids that listen and don't actively try to break things. The (adjustable) thumb rest will be nice to have. So far we're focusing on left hand songs, but once we progress to two hands, I think it will be helpful.
