Q: What is the diameter of the opening of the 1 gallon plastic bucket?

Our plastic bucket has paint in it, and so I do not want to remove the lid until we would use the paint. However I looked at the top side of the press-fit lid and made a measurement, excluding the outer rim which extends beyond the opening. It looks like the actual opening is likely about 5 3/4" in diameter. For what it's worth, the outer diameter of the bucket exactly matches the outer diameter of the standard paint can that we store the bucket on top of. Both containers have the same style of press-fit lid., so I think the opening of a standard paint can would be the same as the opening of the bucket. Good luck and I hope this helps.

Q: Will this plastic stand up to mineral spirits / paint thinner / turpentine?

You need to check compatibility of the specific solvent in what you are questioning against polypropylene. Just saying "solvent" doesn't mean anything. Many chemical compatibility charts are out there for free reference. For instance, this can will hold acetone very well but dissolve quickly against lacquer thinner. In OP's case, mineral spirits are good, turpentine is terrible, and paint thinner is not specific enough to determine. This is why the manufacturer/seller avoids mentioning oil based paints and solvents - it covers far too broad a range of chemicals.

Q: Outside diameter and the height?

I think that this question should be directed to the seller because the same 1-gallon can could be changed (for instance, made a little taller and a little thinner, to hold the same volume but to fit in a new size of shipping container). There are also multiple manufacturers of plastic paint cans of various sizes sold on Amazon. For these reasons the cans that we bought might not necessarily match the ones currently being sold. That said -- I just made some rough measurements for you: about 6 3/4 " diameter and about 8 to 8 1/4 " tall. (Exact height depends on how tightly the lid is tapped down.) However, if you are interested in the can measurements because of planning your storage location, it may be helpful to allow additional horizontal space to extend the metal handle (about 8 1/4 " diameter including the extended metal handle) in case you would need to extend the handles so that you could carry multiple cans.
