Pharmacotherapy: Improving Medical Education Through Clinical Pharmacy Pearls, C

Great work! I found this pearl of an eBook fun to read, easy to understand and very valuable to making meanings of the pieces of information I thought I already knew. For example, I know SSRIs, oxcarbazepine, etc, can cause hyponatremia; but what this means in real practice is often elusive to young pharmacists. This book presents therapeutic facts and intervention prompts in the most practical way, making it easy to picture and form into usable knowledge. The Polypharmacy section presents clinical brainteasers for qualifying pharmacist candidates. It is a must-have for all pharmacy students taking qualifying exams as well as for practicing clinical pharmacists.

I liked the book very much. The content is precise and extremely helpful. I carry the book to my practice setting every day. I’ve recommended it to a lot of colleagues.

I devoured this book in one sitting. As a retail pharmacist, I obviously choose a career path where it's easy to forget the clinical impact we can have on our patients. This book gets you excited again. It reminds the reader of the several problems caused by medications and suggests simple solutions. The author reminds pharmacists of the unique lens through which we view healthcare, and he demonstrates how to think clinically and solve problems involving medication management. The only obvious complaint I see to this read is the way information is presented. Topics, for the most part, are completely out of order. However, I find the lack of organization to be this read's greatest strength. The book is not meant to be a comprehensive review of pharmacotherapy, but rather to provide real world examples that help some individuals (myself included) remember medication "pearls." The brain craves variety, so I find the typical pharmacy read will often lose my interest before I learn anything of significance. With this read, not only does the author have my attention, but the anxiety of returning to the book is greatly reduced when later sections of the book don't depend on information presented earlier. Great job and thank you for providing the pharmaceutical community with this gem!

Good read

This book was a wonderful primer as I am going back into pharmacy after a 5 year hiatus. I found it very informative

Some great pearls and great potential. Some typos and little things that could be fixed. I'd like more depth of information since the target audience is health care providers (specifically pharmacist).

Great book, however, I might as well have bought a used version because Amazon send it in a large bag where it arrived bent and pages folded. Disappointing. Hopefully, it's available elsewhere or just order used.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading about this author`s clinical experiences in his pharmacy practice. The topics he presented were well written and relatable. His real life stories reinforce not only what is important to scrutinize, verify, and document, but why. This book is like having a favorite pharmacy preceptor, but without having a university sending a bill for the privilege. I can't wait to read more of his work!

I'm a pharmacist that works 11 years in the Pharma industry mostly laboratory and lost touch with the therapeuthical side of the pharmacy although it was the purpose why I started studying pharnacy. Anyway I wanted to refresh my knowledge and first bought the audible and now also the Kindle version as it's easier for me to follow the names of the medicines, also as I'm not a native English speaker. Maybe this book will put me in a new direction in my career and I may chose the clinical field of the pharmacy, who knows 🙂
