Solid little player works as advertised
This is a fine little unit that worked great right out of the box. I had an earlier model with only composite video, so it's awesome to get the HDMI 1080p output to my big TV. The tray rattles a bit when it opens and closes, but it plays just fine and quietly. I've already enjoyed some of my discs from the UK, Germany, and Australia. I still prefer my Sony Blu-Ray player for my US discs, as it seems a little bit sturdier and perhaps more durable. But this is great when I want to watch some obscure science fiction movie or rock music concert films only available via import.

Listed Dimensions are Incorrect; Beware of HDCP
Item seems to work as advertised with non-US disks. I will note that Amazon's packaging was a bit lazy, they should have used a box for this (as with any other electronics). Fortunately the item wasn't damaged in shipping. The dimensions listed on the seller's page seemed wildly incorrect with a listed height of 7", I am assuming these are for the box it comes in. The dimensions of the actual product are a much more reasonable 7 5/8" x 8 3/4" x 2", Depth x Length x Height. Nice and compact. For the huge nerds like me who plan to route the HDMI out through a 4K upscaler, be advised that the player outputs HDCP.

This machine is very poor quality
The machine worked fine for a couple of weeks but then began freezing up. Then it began to not play from the main menu at all. I have had Philips products before and felt that the quality was solid, not any more. This is not a good product and I would not purchase again. Run, don't walk away from this machine.

Excellent value for the price.
Exactly as described: it plays every different region DVD & CD that I've tried. The remote is large enough to hold & press comfortably but uncluttered & intuitive in design.2 minor quirks: the timer starts again at 0:00 every time the chapter changes while playing DVDs, & if the player's left on pause too long it defaults to the Philips opening screen which is fine. But then, when playback begins again, it automatically adds subtitles. A bit quirky but easy to fix: press the 'subtitles' button on the lower-left of the remote until 'off' appears & you're set.Yes. it has a foreign plug. Yes, an adapter that works perfectly is included. So what?Whichever deck you choose, absolutely avoid the Panasonic DVD-S700 HDMI 1080P Up-Converting All Multi Region Code Zone Free PAL/NTSC DVD Player.

Works well but doesn't show time stamps, time remaining, etc.
This works OK, and did the job for me in terms of playing DVDs from outside the USA. It is acceptable for the price, which is quite low. the three issues I had were: 1) It does not display any time line when you pause the DVD so you have no idea how much time left, or what timestamp you want to come back to if you want to stop a movie and come back to finish it a different day; 2) It did not come with an HDMI cable, as advertised, so I had to go get another one; 3) I did have a DVD that had trouble playing, but I can't know for sure if it's the DVD itself, or the player. It's probably the DVD that was scratched since other DVDs played normally.

No regrets whatsoever!
I'd been scanning reviews of various region free players for a month and was a little worried because some people clearly got lemons. Thankfully, I was not one of them. This player played my PAL DVDs and my NTSC DVDs. I live in the U.S. and the player came with a two-prong adapter for U.S. outlets. I attached it with the HDMI cable to two different TVs and the color, picture and sound were great. It is extremely lightweight and the remote control is small but useable. It suits my needs perfectly. When I set it up on a counter, it did make a rattling noise. I positioned the player closer to the wall so that one edge was touching and the noise went away. I now have it installed in a media cabinet and there is no vibration or rattling noise. In any event, I am very happy with my purchase and am hopefully one step closer to becoming fluent in another language.

Great value at a low cost for LG Regional DVD Remote
I personally love it. It works and performs to my total satisfaction. For the money, I love it. For interested people, it does not play Blue Ray Discs.

Not long lasting. Mine stopped working in 9 months
This little dvd player worked fine for about 9 months and then just quit working. I had bought it because I have had a very good long lasting dvd player by this brand before and had good results. This one was a disappointment. The picture was fine and it was easy to use. Unfortunately it did not last very long.
