Easy Composters You Can Build

Very interesting and informative

If you are serious about gardening, you already know the value of composting. How would you like to find a reference that brings it all together in one compact, easy to read and inexpensive reference? Well, this is that reference. There are a variety of composter styles and configurations. It almost seems as though you can't go wrong! Well, maybe that is true, but there are proven ways to go "right" and this little book describes them and gives advice on how to get good results with simple arrangements. Eminently practical, simple and clear. And, a bargain price to boot! I recommend it!

It's not hard to compost, but if you're a beginner this is a great book to start with that gives you all the information you'll need. Not very in depth, regardless great beginner information. Good luck!

Great little book that cuts through the crap:) and shows some very practical and workable designs. I use large scale open-front bins, made of wood, so that I can use the front bucket on my tractor. Our composted barn bedding, horse manure, chicken guts, and other "stuff", is like magic on our pastures and around our immature Live Oaks, etc. When we lived in the burbs I composted grass clippings and was kicking myself for not starting it years before. I just made a 4 cornered bin using t-posts and hardware cloth (wire). It was 4' square by 3' high. We put all our grass clippings and fall leaves in it and by early winter the pile was less than a foot high. This was from a half acre lot with a lot of trees, but the bin was in a fairly sunny spot. The only thing extra that I did was a couple of times I put a layer of twigs on top so that a little air could circulate after the next batch of stuff was added. Go ahead and go for it! You'll be glad you did! Good luck!

Nicks, budget- conscious advice provided me with just the right option for my first composter. He made the startup steps sound logical and doable. Short and to the point. Great book!

An easy to read book that shows different composters you can build for yourself. Lots of good information on composting in general. Exactly what I was looking for. You can spend more money on more elaborate composters, this one works fine for me.

A nice, easy introduction to composting, but the lacking in critical detail. The plans need better diagrams and drawings, especially the more complex bins.

This pamphlet is a great introduction to composting especially for the novice. It also contains several ideas and blueprints for DIY composting bins as well as a variety of composting methods. I am new to composting but I believe the information within this pamphlet will help give me a good starting point and a foundation that I can build upon. If you are at all interested in composting and DIY composting bins you should give this a read.
