SIZING, ADAPTATION & REPAIR NOTES: SIZING: Hubby's shoe size is 10D & the Large in this boot fit well WITH very thick foot wrapping from toe tips to above the ankle. That may need to be considered when sizing. TO LENGTHEN STRAPS, IF NECESSARY: Because of the thick foot wrapping, we had to add a 3/4" wide (velcro)/hook & loop strip onto the front (velcro) strap of the boot to make it long enough to reach and adhere to the velcro on opposite side. It was a very easy, inexpensive and successful fix that took about 30 seconds to accomplish. The boot's back strap was long enough without being lengthened even though the thick wrapping extended above the ankle. I already had the roll of hook & loop tape on hand for other uses, got it on Amazon several yrs ago. In our experience, this is not unusual for these ortho devices, especially if they get heavy use. While it didn't happen for us on this particular boot, it HAS happened on the straps of two other types of ortho foot devices hubby has, in the same place, where the buckle (or D-ring) connects to the strap. There is alot of strain in that area, and an inexpensive, easy fix for this has been SUPER GLUE. Place the buckle/D ring back where it was so that the strap can fold over it. Put some Super Glue on one side of the fold-over, squeeze it back together and hold it tightly in place for a minute or so until the glue is completely set/dry. If the strap isn't long enough to fold over and hold the buckle in place, we've had luck gluing in a longer pc of strap to hold the buckle. Necessity stirs initiative if given a chance. REVIEW: I found this boot for hubby after he had surgery on the large front ball of his foot, had his pinky toe amputated and his big toe surgically straightened. Recovery has been long, and he was no-weight-bearing for the first 7 wks. The problems stemmed from a previous injury, 4 yrs ago, so he already had the other equipment he needed, like a knee scooter, etc., but I bought this for him so that those few steps he had to take when going from scooter to the chair, bed, toilet, etc, wouldn't require him to put any weight on the front of that foot. This was THE PERFECT SOLUTION! In fact, he ended up using the boot (and his foot) more than he maybe should have, being quite active due to boredom and having this boot to keep the front of his foot completely off the ground and, therefore, bearing no weight. I was rather regretting that I'd bought it for awhile, afraid the activity would cause problems with healing, but the boot prevented that from happening, it held up wonderfully to alot of wear and tear, the surgeon was quite impressed, and it was well worth every penny of the $25 cost! Because the initial injury has greatly affected hubby's gait, which, in turn, has serious consequences for both feet, this will not be the end of the surgeries. This boot has provided one more tool to make it easier for hubby to get through these difficult procedures. It made the 7 weeks of no-weight-bearing go by much faster and easier, with less chance of inhibiting the healing process and less emotional stress than what would've been without it.

Takes a little getting used to in the beginning, but using it becomes second nature very quickly. I got a gash on my foot and wound up loosing a toe. Orders were to stay off my feet, but when necessary, walk with all pressure in my heal, this shoe is the perfect solution.

RN here! I wanted to love the product, but it's a fail. Normally I wait months to write reviews on products I've purchased to determine long term durability & value. But this was such a fail, I have to send it back immediately & inform others. I injured the sesamoid bone under my great toe. Often called a 'stone bruise'. The recommendation for healing is elevate the front of the foot (be weight bearing on your heel), rest, NSAIDs. So, I ordered this support appliance. Although it keeps you walking on your heel & keeps the front foot elevated, it is so thick, it brings your entire hip up and forces you to walk at an angle. It's like wearing a 3" platform under your foot. You wind up 'toddling / waddling' side to side like a penguin. The strain on both hips after a few steps starts irritating both hips and your lower back. I cannot recommend. It is supposed to be a product to help with a health issue, but actually creates other physical problems. Additional CONS: Very hard to adjust both velcro areas to get a tight fit; your foot can 'slop' around. Wearing thick socks could possibly help that, but why all the effort? Also the velcro strap that goes across the ankle is way to loose for good support and the actual area where the velcro 'connects' to seal it together is wholly undersized. You have about a 1/2" square area wear these two components meet. I can tell that ripping it on and off even once a day, it would lose its 'stickiness' in about 3 days. PROS: The sizing guide was very accurate. It was lightweight. Delivery was 24 hours as promised.

Good quality but a little hard to walk on. My opinion

I bought this for my elderly friend who had complete toe amputation. She was in so much pain on the flat shoe they gave her so I decided to see if this would help. She has been raving non stop that her foot doesn't hurt and her leg is no longer cramping from walking. When her foot swells up she simply loosens the strap and when it goes back down she can tighten it without feeling like her foot is being squeezed. She can function on her own more because she can walk without pain. I was so glad that such an inexpensive shoe could help her so much.

Just started using this "backup" shoe this week after strap broke on first one with 6 weeks intermittent use. Today I fell when outer/side edge of the tall heel section collapsed causing my foot to tilt and roll outward. I weigh 235 - a bit heavy but not uncommon for 6'4" male. Fortunately no serious injury just a minor ankle sprain. Started using this spare 4 days ago because of a new deep puncture wound through my cheap boots. Features that work but could be improved: ankle strap velcro is too long and only has small patch to attach to, and the flaps under the strap could be greatly improved with some padding to avoid the bruising from strap I've developed. AND, strengthen the sides of the raised heel so they don't collapse and fail to support weight of user. UPDATE: Ordered replacement exactly a week ago, new shoe had a stronger heel stucture and slightly better sizing on velcro parts, but stitching on one side fell apart and my foot slipped off the side of the shoe platform and caused me to fall - again, after only about 4 days using the new and "improved" shoe. Back to using a regular shoe until I can order something else.

Safe to wear. Help to reduce pressure on the foot. Designing of shoes is very well that really help the suffering patients.

Verletzungsbedingt habe ich mir diesen Schuh (und eine Alternative dazu) gekauft. Das Fußbett ist recht fest, aber der Schuh hat den Fuß (und den vorderen Zehenbereich) tatsächlich sehr ruhig gehalten. Ich habe ihn mehrere Tage zuhause getragen und eine deutliche Verbesserung wahrgenommen. Daher auch eine hohe Bewertung. Was ich schwierig fand, ist die sehr große Höhe des Schuhs, da das zu einer ziemlichen Humpelei führt, die der Hüfte und dem anderen Bein wohl eher nicht zuträglich ist. Man muss also den unverletzten Fuß irgendwie erhöhen. Ich hatte zum Glück den anderen Schuh noch, der deutlich niedriger ist, aber immerhin zu etwas Ausgleich führen konnte. Auch wenn etwas Höhe nötig ist um das Abrollen zu vermeiden, das ist hier echt zu hoch geraten. Die Einstellmöglichkeiten sind ok, leider wurde für die vorderen Schließen ein großes Pad benutzt und nicht zwei separate, die man präziser einstellen kann. Insgesamt für den Preis aber dennoch gut. Hinweis: Der Schuh ist nur für zuhause gedacht und nicht straßentauglich!

This did not work for offloading diabetic ulcer. Also quality of the product is very bad - not at all work 6k Maybe it can be helpful in metatarsal fractures.. but definitely won't recommend for diabetic ulcers.
