It works fine and is well made. The molding is much cleaner than others out there. The magnetic tray is just strong enough to keep pins from escaping to parts unknown but not so strong that it's a PITA to get them off. Solvents and lubes don't seem to cause any issues. Overall, a decent, well made tool to have around. As for the negative reviews regarding the "tools" not being included, it might be best for those people to take their 1911 somewhere to have it cleaned and serviced since they don't seem to know much about the 1911. No need to strip down the mainspring for basic field cleaning anyways and if you're building/modifying one and don't recognize those "tools"....good luck. The "tools" are clearly molded into the block (see attached picture).

This block tool is absolutely the most versatile I have ever used! The outer rubber surface is attached very well without gaps or separated areas and allows for a good non-slip hold. Each side is designed excellent to accommodate every application/situation I have have needed so far and the magnetic tray is an excellent addition and recently prevented the loss of a small spring saving me a lot of crawling on the floor using less than pleasant connotation!. It is very sturdy and supports the projects well. And it does NOT have that terrible smell that a lot other plastic/rubber items do. Definitely recommend!

There is no documentation on suggested use for the specific holes and cutouts. Anybody's guess I suppose. The quality however seems to be good. Made is China.
