Drawing the Nude: Structure, Anatomy and Observation

Not a definitive artistic anatomy book by any stretch. However, if you collect these kind of books like I do then this book is a good acquisition for your library. The 3-D models are beautiful and it would have been great if they had included them on a disk that had a turnaround function.

The pix on the cover (showing proportions of the human body) was something I was taught about during figure drawing and fashion figure drawing. I was however, looking for that same material for my radiography students (to help increase their hands on understanding of bony landmarks used to position patients). This pix was somewhat misleading, since they did not have any extensive coverage on human proportions. But the book itself was great for structure and some anatomical discussions.

Great book full of good information and the xplanations of the various muscle groups is clear and easy to understand

This book is really helpful in the way it starts with shapes before delving into a figure. Great visual material.

Good book

A good book with good but not great details and info, it is very nice looking with nice and clear cg pictures. bridgemans book, the human machine, to me is the best book you can buy on anatomy. this book is good though and does have way nicer and clearer pictures with good side notes and details.

使用されるツール消しゴム・擦筆・コンテ・粘土・紙鉛筆・木炭から始まり、イメージの視覚表象化を有する為のパース・水平線と消失点を計算したポイントの取り方、フリーハンドでベースになる形（円柱・立方体・卵の面を意識した物の量感、光と影）さらに進化させた骨格の作例図粘土で作り上げた人体骨格・筋肉を詳しくシンプルに描き出している。そして人体の構造・面・形状について、各パーツの鉛筆ドローイングが骨格・筋肉をメインに描き出している。最後に、男女の全身像があるが骨格・筋肉を感じさせる作品である。石膏像を真横に置きドローイングを描いている作品も掲載。全１４４ページで、粘土で彫刻作品を制作中の作品も掲載されている。参考になる画集と思う。

This is a very good book. However, I feel that the reader would benefit more, from this particular book, if they have been drawing in a traditional life drawing class, for some time (hence the four stars) The anatomy chapters were the most helpful, especially in my own anatomical drawing classes I participate in. This has resulted in my understanding and visualisation during life drawing classes.It is practical, clear written and I found the illustrations great - good enough to copy and learn from.

Been on one of Stuart courses the book is a good reference tool

I had previously attended a drawing workshop tutored by the author of the book. Drawing the Nude thoroughly lives up to my expectations. I think for anyone interested in the structure of the human body it will prove to be of great use.
