Best Hair Gel I've Used
I can't believe I finally found a product for my curly hair that I love! I have spent so much money on gels, pomades, mouses, custards, etc trying to find the perfect product. For me, this is it. I like a high shine/wet look for my curly hair, and this does that. It also has incredible hold that easily reactivates with water. However, it washes out so easily in the shower so there is no build up. I just spent a few days in Puerto Vallarta and it held up to the humidity. My hair becomes a mess in humid weather and it looked great all the time.

Excellent product even for an active kid
I bought this for my 11-year old son who has really thick, straight hair. We usually kept his hair with a short fade, but he wanted to grow it out. He finally made it through the "ugly" phase and was able to actually comb his hair. My husband, a barber, cut his hair with an undercut for a comb-over pomp. We first tried extra-hold hair spray and regular gel but it flaked and didn't hold so well so after much product comparison and research, I bought the Imperial Gel Pomade. He also tried (as comparison) Johnny B Mode, gorilla EarWax, and Moco de Gorilla. My son preferred the smell of the Imperial over the others which he says we're just "blah". The hold was good and didn't require a spray of hair spray or anything extra. When he ran his fingers through it, it didn't flake or get powdery as some of the others did. When playing in P.E. or at recess, he gets extremely sweaty but his hair holds fine. It was easy to reactivate the hold with just a few sprays of water or just wet his hands and run them through his hair. The finish is a slight bit shiny, but not overly shiny and can be adjusted with less water. We will definitely continue buying this product and recommending it to others.

Great for that "spiky" look
I have thick, coarse, curly hair--not little curls, but curls all the same. I keep it short and like to flat-iron it and wear it spiky when I'm not letting it do its own curly thing, which these days is most of the time. Some kind of "product," as the beauty industry calls hair glop, is absolutely necessary to achieve this look. This is the best product for the purpose: it's clear (so it doesn't give my grey hair any unwanted tinges); it has great hold; and it's a great price. One jar lasts me ages, it seems. Scoop out a small dollop with a finger, rub it into your hands, then rub into top of dry hair and spike. (Then wash your sticky hands.) I am told it "reactivates" in water, but that wouldn't work with my flat-ironing routine.

Good for curly hair if you know how to use it.
This is an excellent gel replacement. Here's the pros and cons Pros: - Dries reasonably fast without looking "dry". It will last you all day and people would think that your hair is wet when it's not. It gives a great amount of sheen that lasts very long. Even though it should be washed out and reapplied any time you style for the best results. -A little bit goes a long way. Its very sticky when it starts to dry which is both a good and a bad thing. Bad because that means it will probably cause your hair to frizz more if you're trying to curl it, good because you won't have to use a lot of the product to get the hair to hold. -Smells really good! It has a slightly faint watermelon smell that isn't too manly or girly. Cons: -Too much used without washing out the old stuff WILL leave white residue in your hair and it captures leave in conditioned hair as well. I wanted to try conditioner as it fights back the amount of frizz, and then freezing the look to my hair with this pomade (which is essentially what it's supposed to do). It does an OK job of keeping the style after conditioning but if you don't wash it out the next day it will start to mix in and become opaque. Kind of sad since it's so great at keeping your hairstyle but I suppose that's just what happens when you use pomade. Just be sure to wash your hair well before using. -Doesn't lay hair down without being wasteful. I found that it seems to take a lot of product to achieve something a regular gel can with just a few dabs. Once again the reason why I recommend mixing this with a strong holding gel when using. Since things like "edge control" would probably cause it to cake on your hair and look worse something like gel would be your best bet. I'm going to bite the bullet and just stick to it (no puns intended) because it does hold gel very well and even blends well with gel. I would recommend mixing this with ECHO black gel if you are looking to maintain long lasting curls without looking making them look like curly cotton balls. I would give it a 4/5 stars. The pros still outweigh the cons in terms of how I style my hair and in terms of a pomade gel it's very versatile for what I need.

After a long search, I have finally found the Pomade to suit all my needs -- and THEN SOME!
I am very particular about my hair care products. The search I conducted over the last 2 years is Finally over I was looking for a product that 1) worked well, 2)had a pleasant fragrance, 3) is water based, 4) was able to be reactivated (reset) with the addition of water. After trying what seemed to be an endless supply of pomades I could find 2, maybe 3, of the qualities listed above. When I found Imperial Pomade I immediately realized I not only fulfilled all four of these major wants/needs but also found a few more. 5) Imperial Gel Pomade allows hair to be brushed out and feel soft and smooth-- not heavy and greasy 6) Imperial Gel Pomade has a great hold, allowing less to be used than traditional pomades, thus making it even more cost effective. If you are looking for a Pomade and only need a few qualities, know that this product will surpass your needs and get you noticed by the opposite sex for great looking and smelling hair. Fantastic pomade
I was using Baxter's Hard Water Pomade, but I like Imperial quite a bit better. It has a significantly stronger hold and is a much much better value. The 12 oz jar is going to last me quite a long time. This has a firm hold and some shine, but not too much. During the day if things get out of place you can splash a little water on it and restyle it again easily. Doesn't need a lot of water to reactivate, just a little moisture. There isn't really an odor to the product at all. I haven't had it flake or be crusty. For reference, I am a white male with thick hair, short on the sides and around 4-5 inches on top. I usually style it with a loosely slicked back and to the side kind of look.

Not for curly or wavy hair.
Not for curly hair or wavy that gets dry fast. Still a great product. Recommended for other not for that hair type however.

10/10
My husband has been using Imperial for 10+ years, we have tried other products, nothing comes close. We use this on both of our boys as well. It holds all day - your hair will not move. It's worth every bit of the price tag.
