Ergodyne Skullerz 8955 Lightweight Bump Cap, Baseball Hat Style, Breathable Head Protection

I bump my head a lot and it hurts. I’d never heard of a bump cap, but was tired of hitting my head and decided to buy a hard hat. Imagine my delight when a bump cap came up in a hard hat search. After a lot of research I chose the Ergodyne cap. I wear a 7 1/8” hat and many of the offerings were too big for me. I am aware that this does not meet hard hat requirements, however, if all one needs is protection for those minor bumps and scrapes, this is perfect. It is very comfortable, light and stays on my head well. Good cap, good value.

I'm always bumping my head when I rotate my car tires and when I work in the attic. This is a light, unobtrusive cap that fits tight and protects my head. I bought the one with the short brim. It works great as long as I remember to wear it!

Worked great. Fit well. I am 5’ 4” around 130 pounds. I was worried it would be too large.

Cons: Kinda bulky, only really notice when trying to stick your head in tight spots and when driving a vehicle with a high head rest. It is heavier than a normal hat obviously but only took me about a week to adjust to the size and weight. From experience once you start wearing it you should keep wearing it, a few times I grabbed my normal hat and started working only to hit my head on some large hard object thinking I had this bump cap on. PROS: It is breathable to some extent, remember that it is a plastic saftey shell inside of a hat. The padding is very comfortable during normal wear and when you really bang you head on a sharp corner the padding and the shell makes the impact feel like you got hit in the head with a pool noodle, you feel the impact and no pain. The very thin fabric the hat is made of has not ripped or frayed after 4 weeks of 14+ hr days. The best pro is every time your buddy hits his head you can say I told you to buy one. After this bump cap gets destroyed I will buy another.

I got this as a gift for someone who recently had surgery on their scalp and had to protect it from accidental bumps. I thought it may look weird on, but unless you’re really staring closely to compare, it just looks like a normal hat. Has been a big help as they heal!

This bump hat has saved my head from soooo many cuts and bruises while working on boat systems in tight spaces! It's lightweight and breathable, doesn't feel or look too bulky while wearing it. The inside can be removed so you can wash the outer nylon shell when you sweat in it. The inner shell protective part doesn't always stay put within the nylon shell, so you just have to adjust it occasionally when putting it on - not a big deal, just a minor annoyance - some velcro would fix it. I wore one of them out after 3 years of regular use, and bought another identical one.

I had a stroke 3 years ago and so my wife worries about me banging my head on things. I work in crawlspace and attic spaces daily, so I bump my head a lot. I needed something lightweight, durable, unobtrusive, and just enough protection to not give myself a concussion. This hat provides all of the above. I got the shortest bill I could for maximum visibility. Other than that it looks and feels like I'm wearing just a baseball cap. I often forget I have it on and walk into the store with it on. I still hit my head several times a week, but no more scratches, gouges, or headaches from joists. Will this replace a hardhat on a job site? No. Will it keep you from giving yourself a concussion on low hanging joists, beams, etc. Definitely! I've told my employees they can have them if they want them. 100% recommend.

I crawl crawlspace a for work and love this!!!! I got the shortest bill and trimmed in down because of bills block vision when crawling. But hey it works and comfy and strong. It would be cool if they sold a no bill style but this is perfectly fine!
