Be ready to re-use your old cam gear
The gear on this cam is advertised to be Red, about 2.7487 or so with the .108 pins. It was not, mine came with a 2.750, Black gear. I ordered the undersized gear, and it was also not the advertised size, I needed 2.747 Orange, and it was 2.745 I returned it. I pressed my old gear off and re-use it which is actually the best thing to do if it's in good shape, no lash issues and it's pretty easy to do. Edit: The cam feels great in my 97 Road King. Pulls hard to my 5700 rpm rev limiter with stock head pipes, V&H slip-ons, Screamin' Eagle air cleaner on a CV with 45 slow, N65c needle, and 180 main. I'll dyno it in the next few weeks and post up here one more time. Final Edit: Dyno tuned to 79.55 HP at 5600rpm, 82.25 ft.lb torque at 4500rpm. The torque curve is pretty flat from around 76 to 79 across the rpm range with a surge upwards from 4000 to 5200rpm. Gas mileage stayed at about 40 riding aggressively. This thing pulls hard all the way to the rev limiter 45 slow jet N65c needle shimmed .020 and 185 main jet. K, I'm done, have fun... :-)

Great cam for the money
I recently installed this in a 98 Wide Glide. Install was pretty straightforward, with a few caveats.... 1. Replaced factory INA cam bearing with a Torrington bearing, which is a necessary upgrade for reliability. 2. This cam needs to be shimmed in later year Evo engines. Simply order a 0.055" shim and put shim between thrust washer and the cam. (Note: assembly order of thrust washer and shim are critical). 3. Not sure about how to measure gear mesh or if the cam has the right gear on it...easy no worries fix.... use hydraulic press to press gear off both cams and press the old factory matched gear on to the new cam. Use one of those big illuminated magnifying glasses and a carbide scribe to make index marks on the old gear, indexing off the edges if the keyway on the camshaft. I noticed that the new cam gear was already scratched in such a way. The gears press off fairly easy, old gear goes on new shaft fairly easily with a press, I heated the gear with a heat gun first to make it easier. I got the index marks lined up within the the +/- error of my uncalibrated eyes on the first try. Bike runs great with this cam, no regrets.

Great fitment
Direct fit for 80 CI Evolution. Can use the stock Pushrods and lifters without any clearance issues. Wakes your stock engine right up. Would recommend swapping the Gear with old cam if meshing with other used parts on the bike

Good mid-range power
You won't break any records off the line from a standing start, but you WILL notice a difference when you go to pass somebody for the first time after upgrading to this cam. I absolutely love it. Not a monster cam, I still get decent mileage, and I can keep up with a pack at 90 mph easily now.

good cam it's been around and it's a proven performer
Replaced this cam with the exact same one that was chewed up, thanks to HD and their bean counters who decided to cheap out on their cam bearings and go with an INA. Thanks to Andrews for your good cams and thanks to HD for having an acute case of chronic corporate greed for making this experience possible.

Best price on the web, gold standard of Harley Evolution Cam upgrades.
Researched the best all round true bolt-in cam for the Harley Evolution engine and the most commonly recommended is the EV-27. Get some Crane Time Saver push rods and a Torrington B-138 bearing and there you have it! Installed easily and don't forget the .055 shim for the end of the cam.Order a cam change gasket set and replace the cam oil seal too since its included.
