I've been using the Vic Firth 5As for several years now as my primary stick. They have great weight and balance and the wood tips don't create that overly bright sound you get with plastic/nylon tips. I play in a classic rock band so I need something to play a wide range of stuff from the Beatles to Led Zeppelin without constantly changing sticks. These do the job. The 4 for 3 deal brings the cost down to just over $7 per pair which is a great deal. Highly recommend these sticks and this deal.

I like these sticks, they seem to be stronger, and they don`t break as easy as the traditional tan hickory sticks.

These sticks are very durable and I love that I got an extra pair. They began to slip slightly when my hands got sweaty, but other than that I would totally buy another batch.

Perfectly paired. The hardness of the black coat finish is to be expected, and it produces a fat crack rim shot and a nice stiff feel to the sticks. Heavier than a natural stick, and less resonance to the feel. Use it as a tool for the touch and sound you desire, and you will be satisfied.

Excellent sticks, nicely balanced with a very nice finished. Definitely my favorite drum sticks. Great value for the money.

Played with these sticks for 3 days straight to test them out. I don't like how slick the sticks are because of the black paint. These slip out of my hand very easy and way more than un painted sticks. I've played Vic First sticks before and loved them from durability to feel. These while easier for shot patterns because they are so slick they just don't hold up to playing more rocking songs. I noticed the sticks broke the tips within 5 mins....These would be best suited for playing slow, and light.
