Clear your roof more efficient with less effort
So id like to start off by saying we started with an avalanche though lighter it was extremely flimsy we had a love hate relationship but after spending a bit of time we learned the technique to using these types of snow removers so we did our research and found that the snow peeler seemed like the best replacement option after bending our avalanche. Got it delivered yesterday had extremely wet heavy snow roughly 18 inches on our shed so we decided it was the perfect place to try it out and see if the quality was better. It cuts better its heavy duty which means it is a bit heavier to manage but it does an excellent job and makes life so much easier. Snow peeler you have made my husband and I very happy with all this crazy weather we have been getting in Alaska. Probably wont need it much more this year but next year it will be helpful If your having issues with it practice your technique because we weren't super sure about them when we started either, its far better then a regular roof rake. The assembly was simple the parts were all there and its pretty straightforward plus the slide bungie makes it awesome if theres a bit of a breeze to keep the slide in place. If you have ice damns i recommend this to get off the majority of the snow then use a standard roof rake to get the couple inches left off because it does leave a bit behind we haven't had any issues with ice dams so we don't worry about the couple inches left behind but if you do it will cut the amount of struggling with a standard roof rake in half as we did it with my parents house and it makes scraping the thin layer off with a regular roof rake so much easier because its no longer as resistant and heavy. Also there is just something oddly satisfying watching the snow blocks fall off the roof it makes my heart so happy.

Saves time, easy to assemble and easy to use!
My Review of the SnowPeeler: Overall it Works well!!! It came in a box about 5’long. Assembly took about 20 minutes (I combined both written instructions, as well as the YouTube video to assemble it). Mine is the 30’long model (for my applications, needed all 30’). To clear all my roofs, it took maybe a couple hours (compared to an all day and night process when having to climb on the roofs last year with a shovel to clean ‘em off). Perhaps, if it wasn’t raining so hard last night like it was while doing it, it may have taken even less time. There are six 5’ snap-together poles that make up the 30’, you can use as many or as little as needed for whatever length you need. I found that in order to move the cutting head to the next section of snow to “peel”, you have to remove sections, to only leave 15-20’ of pole intact (to have the leverage to lift the head up and over to the next spot on the roof), then add a 5’ section(s) of pole as you work it up the roof (makes for a lot of assembly/disassembly of the pole sections while using it). It comes with a bungee cord to hold the slider sheet (bottom end grommet ) to the pole, which when in place, directs the sliding snow to dropping farther from the side of the building and keeps it attached to the pole so the wind doesn’t take it (which helps considerably). After about 20 minutes of use, the bungee fell off (probably on the roof somewhere 🥺) I tried using a bungee I had, but it was longer than the one it came with, so it fell off as well. Without the bungee, the Peeler can still be used, but with the wind, it was more difficult to direct the head and slider sheet to where you wanted it to go up the roof and it allowed the snow coming off the roof to drop straight down from the eave (probably more risk of the slider sheet to tear on the edge of the eaves). I think a modification of some sort is needed to keep the bungee in place (or perhaps I just didn’t use it correctly ……..Nah! 🤗) or, they should send extra bungees in the box to have as spares. In hindsight, I should have measured the bungee, so that I could have gotten another one at correct length to replace the one lost. The Peeler didn’t clean off all the snow ( especially at the very peak as it was difficult to make the guides “jump” up onto the ridge cap, but for whatever little is left up there, I didn’t really care). The guides place the cutter head 2” off the roof, so if there is 2” or less of snow on the roof, don’t bother using it. I also found that when working it along the roof’s rake edge, with my asphalt roof, the guide closest to the edge tended to drop over the edge, which made it different to use the Peeler as the cutting edge would then be angled and riding on the shingles’s edge rather than the plastic Peeler guide (perhaps on a metal roof, the rake cap would prevent the Peeler guide from falling over the edge of the roof (??)

Works as advertised, mostly.
I recently purchased the snow peeler premium with 30 ft. Extension and 2 tarps. One tarp is weighted and hangs from the head of the peeler, the other has a grommet and is supposed to bungee to the handle. Let me begin by saying that there were no holes in any of the handle extensions for the bungee to connect to. This was easily remedied by drilling a hole in one of the extensions. The tarp that bungees to the handle works much better . The weighted tarp tends to bunch up at the head if there is a lot of depth of snow you are removing. There is also no grip on any of the extensions. I fixed this by buying a roll of rubberized shelf liner and using spray adhesive to make a grip on one of the extensions. Overall it seems to be well made , and assembly was easy . I have used it twice and it does remove snow as advertised, it's about twice as fast as using a standard snow roof rake. Make no mistake though, it is not effortless. When using all the extensions, you have to hold the poles above your shoulder to reach the top of the roof. Overall I think this product is worth the money spent, as I will get a lot of use from it living in a snow belt area.

Very Effective on Snow Removal!
I have been shoveling roofs for years and was looking for a more efficient way to remove snow other than physically getting up on the roof and shoveling it or using a snow rake. The last time I needed to shovel any roof was back approximately 8 years ago, winters are NOT what they use to be. I live in the Adirondacks of Upstate NY and this year has been a very typical Winter of years ago. There was around 4 feet on the roofs of both the house and side roofs on the barn, with the forecast saying possible rain. I needed to remove the snow! I went on line with a search looking for a different way to remove snow from roofs and the Snow Peeler showed up. It was showing at Amazon as available and after reading the reviews and watching a couple of videos, I purchased one. Well, I will tell you that it was an extremely smart purchase, the thing does exactly what it is intended to do, makes roof snow removal much, much easier than either shoveling or using a roof rake and way faster. I had read some of the reviewers giving it a poor rating because it was heavy and awkward to use. Well it is if you have all 6 of the 5 foot poles attached and try to lift the cutting head of the Peel off the roof. I do not think the designer of the Peel intended the user to lift the Peel with all of the poles attached, I believe that the proper use was to leave the Peel on the roof and maneuver the cutting head over to the snow that requires removal, so that is what I did. Basically, I first install 3 poles with the 3rd pole having the extra hole for the bungee cord to hold the plastic slide.I tried it without the bungee and it was pretty much useless, the bungee makes it function as designed. I next place the Peel on the roof, at the eve and remove the top layer of snow, reaching as far as possible up the roof. I then return the Peel to the eve and remove the next layer, and repeat this step until the snow is removed from this row. I then move the peel over to the next row and repeat. I continue across the roof until I have a shelf without snow so that I can maneuver the Peel with additional poles. I next add a couple more poles, leaving the cutting head on the roof, this way I don't have to try and pick the entire assembly up, not good for the back! I than move the Peel into position and continue using the method described above for the balance of the roof, working up the roof until complete. Like I said earlier, I can see where people would get discouraged with the Snow Peeler because if you try to pick the entire assembly up, you will struggle to move it around to position it. My method certainly worked for me and I hope that helps anyone who reads my review. Kevin Jones

A little over-designed and under-performing
It's not terrible, but I really wish I had bought a different snow removal tool than this one for my roof. I trusted the several rave reviews this product has and, while I'm glad so many people enjoy this tool, I am somewhat disappointed with it. For all its gadgetry, it could do a better job. For the record, I live in Minnesota and our winters are particularly intense with heavy snow fall. This year I had a good 2-3 feet of snow on my roof. This season was also the first winter that I've used this tool. So, having used it though this current snow season, here's my break-down: 1) Pro: The tool does indeed remove snow, and the slide helps loosen it and ease it off the roof, which is great. This is a definite "pro" for the tool. 2) Con: The shingle-guards leave a good 2-3 inches of snow on the roof. As a result, it did not remedy my issues with ice-dams and icicles. (I later used my neighbor's rook rake to shave off the difference. Hers was less costly and far more effective). 2) Con: The tool gets very top-heavy as you extend it, making it hard to navigate at longer distances. At some extended lengths, it might be best to have two people operate it: one holding the end of the pole and the other directing it further up the stem. 3) Pro & Con: The snow slide actually does help the snow slip easily off the roof, which is good, but the drag from the material complicates maneuverability and sometimes catches the wind. It also may catch on corners or gutters. 4) Con: This is small but annoying - One of the screw-nuts that came with the set got stuck midway through the screw-threading. So I could not fully tighten the screw, nor remove it because it was locked tight mid-screw (the only way to get it off would be with a bolt-cutter). I wound a rubber band around the exposed screw to close the gap between it and the frame it was supposed to tighten. It worked fine, but for the cost of the item, I should not have had to do that. So overall, it does seem like this tool will remove snow, but it will leave a 2-3inch layer and may not solve problems with ice-dams. It can get top heavy and may require two people to operate it. And the slide may complicate maneuverability, but once you get it in place on the roof, it does help move snow rapidly (except for 2-3 inches).

No Ladders, No Slips – The Smart Way to Clear Snow Off Your Roof
Alright, let’s talk about snow removal, because if you live somewhere with heavy winters, you know how fast snow piles up on your roof. I’ve been using the Snowpeeler Roof Rake for a couple of seasons now, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best winter tools I own. First off, it’s safe. No need to climb a ladder or step onto an icy roof. The 30-foot telescopic handle gives you plenty of reach so you can clear snow from the ground. Whether you have a low-pitched roof or a taller house, the adjustable handle makes it easy to get the right angle without overextending yourself. I was a little concerned about whether it would scratch my roof, but the tear-resistant slide helps guide the snow off without damaging shingles. That’s a huge plus, since some roof rakes can actually cause more harm than good. This thing is sturdy. It doesn’t feel flimsy or cheap, and even after multiple winters, it’s held up great. It’s lightweight enough to maneuver easily but strong enough to handle heavy, packed snow without bending. And storage? Super easy. It comes apart in sections, so when winter is over, you don’t have to deal with a bulky, awkward tool taking up space in your garage. Just break it down and tuck it away until next season. It does take a little practice to get the right motion, but once you do, it makes snow removal so much faster and easier. Plus, it helps prevent ice dams, which means fewer roof problems and costly repairs down the road. If you want a safe, durable, and easy-to-store way to clear your roof, this rake is a no-brainer. Get one before the snow piles up - you won’t regret it.

Works well but pack a lunch!
UPDATE 3/20/19 About an hour later... I just got off the phone with Nancy at the Polarmade company. I called the 800 number listed on the company website and I was pleasantly surprised that not only did someone answer, she did not transfer me to someone else. I explained that the pole had broken during use, and without a single inference of negligence or attempt to shirk the company responsibility, she arranged to a replacement section of handle to be sent to me, FREE OF CHARGE! I've added back the fifth star to my review to reflect the EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE this company provides. They stand behind their product, and I'm a raving fan. UPDATE 3/20/19 While using the full 30' handle (6 x 5-foot sections) that came with the Snowpeeler Premium I had a large slab of snow slide down the handle, causing one of the junctions to snap near the middle of the entire length. The photo is the clean break at what must be assumed to be the weak link in the system. The aluminum handle sections are mechanically tapered to slide into one another, making for a quick and simple assembly. Unfortunately, this mechanical squeezing weakens the metal at the junction, which is where the break occurred. While I still recommend the product as a far safer means of snow removal than shoveling from the roof itself, it seems that the weight of the snow being removed must be taken into consideration. I've removed one star from my prior 5-star review for this failure. I'll be reaching out to the manufacturer to see if they will replace the damaged handle section as a warranty issue. I'll update this review with that outcome. ORIGINAL REVIEW 3/12/19: The quality of the tool is top notch. Assembly took 15 min with my adjustable wrench and the included hex wrenches in the box. All the parts fit well, and the machining is very clean. The instructions are somewhat vague, as they require you to match parts to the instruction guide diagram only. There is no written assembly instructions or tips. I did find a good video online that explained everything very clearly. I recommend you visit the web BEFORE assembly. It helps. As for function, the tool does NOT save effort. It saves time and probably injury. By working fro the ground you stay safely standing whereas shoveling on the roof would be treacherous to say the least. The tool with 25’ of handle in use can be unwieldy and the weight, while not too bad initially, does wear you out. I worked for about an hour on 36-48” of rooftop snow that is 3 months old and the cutting head did its job. At times the head would hang up on an icy section and the handle would flex downward bashing into my gutter. No damage was done but be warned that the tool is probably best suited for fresher snow than I have. All said, I have no regrets with this purchase and recommend the tool and maker.

It does work
The directions are poorly illustrated and actually show it being assembled incorrectly (direction of the tarp). Don't follow the directions to the letter and occasionally look at the picture on the box so you can recognize the correct orientation of components. The braces are not long enough to reach the hole on the center pole. I drilled an extra hole on each brace to make it reach properly. I will say that this is a very HEAVY thing to wield while lifting it up to your roof. I found that it is easier to get the rake onto the roof edge, then add your additional poles until a proper length. Even still, each time you pull it back and push it forward, there is a lot of mass to move. Your arms will get a workout. It does do what it promises to do. It gets snow off your roof and prevents the need for sketchy ladder activities. It didn't put snow into my face and conveniently dropped snow off the tarp to the ground. Use the bungee cord. It makes a difference. I do feel that having an additional angeled pipe would be beneficial for certain roof slants, but it just means more manipulation of the pole to reach where you want.
