Buttery Smooth 144Hz + PS5
It really is a 4.5/5 monitor. It also works great with the PS5 with the out @ 4k. The picture is good, but not overly bright. I am upgrading from a Samsung quantum dot VA 3440 X 1440 34" 100Hz panel. The Samsung was much brighter, and needed to be reduced to 30% to match the same 70% brightness of this unit. Samsung's brightness would make using office almost painful. The Samsung's picture quality was nicer, but this is still close. I got lucky with both, and have had very good white uniformity. They both look great next to an IPS panel. The contrast with VA panels is absolutely wonderful, and not having the IPS bleed, even if it is only a little is a good thing, even if it is not as noticeable when gaming. This is not a content creation/photo editing monitor. It does still look very good. Gaming is much more fluid even from going from 100Hz to 144Hz. The input lag is also immensely noticeable for fast paced twitch games. Colors are vibrant enough, and the any blurring is minimal at most as this does come along with VA panels. Not really noticeable unless you are specifically looking for it. HDR is not a thing for this monitor. Things do look worse. I did get a dud of a firmware with it. It could not handle 144Hz. The screen would freak out. I opened a ticket with MSI, and have not heard back yet. I contacted the Tech support from Amazon that came with this monitor. Juan was actually pretty great. He mad sure that I had the latest drivers, switching DP cords, and he even took the time to reach out to MSI. The unfortunate part of updating the firmware with this monitor, is that it makes it sound like you need to go with the USB cable that is provided. My PC would not see the monitor properly. I did update the firmware via the download from MSI's sight and installed via a USB drive, as I have done in the past. This resolved the issue in literally a few seconds. I had 144Hz on this baby, and 60Hz on the Asus IPS. If only MSI had taken the time to actually update the firmware so that it was in properly working condition right away, I would have had more time to enjoy their great product. The input lag was also a feature I was interested in. The Samsung had about a 20+ms input lag which makes things pretty tough. This monitor felt much more responsive. I don't like firing bullets only for them to end up just behind a moving target. With this monitor, where you aimed was where the bullets went. The lack of delay is amazing. Both monitors are VA and both have 4ms response time. Playing with both felt very different. Samsung makes great screens, but the hardware behind that screen was a little lacking. They were going for good overall. Gaming was more of a hindsight. This is not an overly bright VA. The Samsung had to be brought down a lot. It was literally blinding at above 40% brightness. Color accuracy is good. VA panels can't reach 1ms response time, but you will not notice this. This may refer to the back light strobing. The lighting is nice, but not overly useful. I have it off, as it is a little distracting. Speakers? There are some, but if you are buying a monitor like this, you probably won't be using ones on a monitor. The bonus bungie for your mouse is a nice bonus. The attachment for the camera is a nice bonus as well. This was an expensive upgrade for an additional 44Hz over the other ultra wide, but it has been worth it. Make sure you have the graphics card, or adjust your settings to get the best results. I was deciding whether to get this or the LG nano IPS at 144Hz. Both had good reviews, but there seemed to be a bit of an issue with the LG screens getting lines in them due to firmware updates, or just randomly occurring. The top of the line LG and Acer monitors are a bit price at $2500. At $800, it is a great investment for today, and the years to come. Pros: 144Hz Works with G-Sync (not supported, but works well) Low input lag Fast response time Good color out of the box Easy monitor mounting Bonus items + RGB strip Additional 3 month warranty when registered. Amazon support No dead pixels Good uniformity across the screen. MSI software is nice and easy to use. Cons: Firmware that arrived (was an easy fix in the end). HDR 400 is just not good on any monitor. Stand takes up a lot of real estate. Pushes the monitor much more forward on a desk. This is a heavier monitor. I had tighten my desk mount, otherwise it would not stay level, stay at the same height, or it would start to lean forward. Not the brightest VA panel, but still good. It won't blind you. 144Hz monitor in a dual screen set up, does create more of a workload on the GPU compared to 100Hz. I am very happy I got this monitor. It is an investment, but good monitors these days are getting very pricey. Ultrawide monitors are something to really enjoy. Once you get used to the field of view and real estate on the screen to utilize, you will not want to go back. I will update this review if with any useful information.

Quality IPS Monitor for under $400
Assuming you're looking for a 1440p165hz 27in. monitor, and you already know that any IPS HDR is worse than a TV, and that you know about IPSvsVAvsTNvsOLED. Here's my thoughts on this model (non-QD) after not owning a monitor (other than a laptop): Likes: - Good size - 2 USB ports allow for easy switching from laptop to desktop (just need to reroute the one USB Type B rather than the mouse+keyboard+others - Bright enough for me - What I think is minimal backlight bleed - RGB doesn't seem to affect price (AKA no RGB tax) - Blue light filter is nice - Ergonomics are awesome if you're not buying an arm - Updatable firmware can add new features (newest one adds sRGB mode) - Freesync Cons: - Some blacklight bleed (only notice in dark room and dark screen). Some people may have returned it for this, but I only care if I notice it on a normal (non-black) screen so I'm keeping it - RGB could be brighter (I'd like it to help light the back more to help with night time viewing) - Missing KVM switch that m27q has - DisplayPort 1.2a (not 1.4 so 165hz mode limits to 8bit color depth, 10bit only gets 120hz max) - As of yet, my "Macro" key doesn't work (key on left side meant to provide a shortcut). Don't know if it's a setting thing or a hardware issue. I don't really need it, so I'm not worried, but a little disappointing that either it's broken or just hard to setup. Not worth an RMA in my opinion Overall, I've had the monitor for 2 days and I'm loving it. I came from using a living room setup on a Samsung 4k60hz TV. The TV had better HDR and of course 4k is crisper, but I really enjoy having 165hz and having smaller screen to use at a desk (especially for FPS's). I've not used the Gigabyte m27q, but this seems comparable for about $50 (USD) more. You're paying for better ergonomics, a slightly faster response time, and (from the reviews I see on both products) better quality control. I'll also say I was able to get this with one day shipping where as the m27q was going to take 8 days on Amazon.

Great monitor - a few things to take note of, but no real issues
Seems great so far. Got everything promised and more. Haven't seen any dead pixels or anything yet. The native resolution is actually 3840x2160 (4k) from upscaling, so that's a really nice feature that I didn't expect. Full 165Hz at 2k, though there isn't a 144Hz mode which is a little bit unfortunate. I got this monitor to play high refresh rate 1440p on my new RTX3080, and it does that job astoundingly on Doom and Elden Ring. My other monitor is a 144HZ 1080p HP25mx. I also like that the base of the monitor is very heavy so it doesnt wobble around at all, and comes with a DisplayPort, HDMI, and some other display cord that I dont even know what it is. If you're like me, when you're looking at reviews, you're looking for issues about the product. So, these are my issues so far. Brightness. It's not the worst, but it definitely can't get anywhere near as bright as my HP25mx that I use with it. If you want a very bright monitor, this is not it, but it's enough for almost all uses. LEDs are completely useless basically. Not really an issue, just not exactly something that is designed well. Rotation. This monitor can rotate to be portrait mode, and can rotatein both directions. However, there's no sort of "sweet spot"; the only way to make sure that the monitor is level is to use a level yourself. Menu navigation button. It's on the back of the monitor on the right side, which is very awkward as compared to the buttons at the bottom of my HP25mx. I can't really put this monitor on the left if I wanted to, but it works fine other than that. Basically, all of the cons are minor, so I'd recommend this monitor very highly.

This high end MSI MAG274QRF monitor rocks. 1. Pro grade IPS panel looks fantastic and has minimal motion blur while gaming (and I kept response boost to normal/off). 1440p is great for gaming and productivity (perfect for side by side work due to added screen real estate over 1080p). 2. Colours look superb. I lowered brightness significantly to improve accuracy and switched to warm tone which looks great. I did do 'level 1' for dark boost which looked the most accurate to me. Little bit dark by default. I increased sharpness to 1 from 0 which seemed most accurate to me. 3. Extemely low input lag. Very responsive (and that's with Xbox controller plugged into PC while gaming). 4. Solid stand (though not tool free, you need to put packaged screws into the back plate). 5. Easy to use and versatile menu for settings Definitely feels like I got what I paid for. A high-end WQHD IPS experience. G-sync registered automatically as compatible through displayport and turned on immediately. Perfect experience in COD WZ and Metro. DLSS quality mode at 1440p looked great on WZ and Metro Enhanced Edition. Explain to the woman in your life that this is an essential piece of technology and a great value. In fact, you may need this monitor just to give your partner a seminar on ray tracing and variable refresh rate. This classy monitor will do the lesson justice.

This monitor is really amazing! Firstly ultrawide is AMAZING especially for sim racing which is the primary use for me. The response time is good, colours look great and has vesa support as well. All around great monitor for gaming!
