Zinsser Mold Killing Primer — The only primer that actually kills mold, not just “prevents” it
I didn’t even know this product existed until a customer told me about it back when I worked at Wally World. They were dealing with a major mold problem in their home, and every time they used Kilz, the mold came right back. After doing their research, they found this primer — the only one marketed as a true mold‑killing primer instead of just a mold‑resistant one. That stuck with me. Since then, I’ve used it myself several times, and it’s been consistently effective. Real‑world results: - Warehouse drywall: We had constant mold issues from dampness. We painted the affected areas with this primer — no topcoat, just two coats of the primer — and it stayed clean the entire time I worked there. (And honestly, the coworker who applied it didn’t even clean the walls first, which is not recommended, but it still worked.) - Flood‑prone basement: Even after cutting the drywall higher to avoid water contact, the leftover dampness kept causing mold. I used this primer on the walls, and the mold didn’t return while I lived there. - New house with vent moisture issues: One storage room had a massive mold patch on the wall. I cleaned it as well as I could — not perfectly — then painted it with this primer. Months later, the mold still hasn’t come back. Bottom line: If you’re dealing with mold and you’re not confident you can remove every last trace before painting, this primer is absolutely worth it. It saves time, reduces stress, and actually kills what’s there instead of just hoping it won’t return.

Kinda thin but works great on mold.
A little thin but I’m guessing it’s because of the mold killer. Covered great and no more mold smell. If I run into more mold I’ll definitely buy this again.

Good product
Used almost the whole can for my small bathroom. Good coverage. Painted the ceiling a week ago will update if mold grows on it. It is quite pricey

Works
This paint, simply said does what it says it does. I used it in a closet that is on an outer wall of my home as well as on the ceiling of a bathroom. Two areas where there is moisture. It has been a year now and I'm please that there has been no return of the problem in those areas. I ordered 2 cans for my son.

Thick and easy to apply
Exactly what I needed to cover some sheetrock that had been exposed to high moisture and had some light damage. Though I did not see any signs of mold, I wanted to be sure, which is why I bought this one. I'm also very pleased that it is thick. Not as thick as Elmer's glue, but pretty close, which is great for helping smooth out some of the damaged spots. Overall, very pleased.

It works & I'm grateful. I had mold growing in my kitchen cabinets & under my cabinet above my stove
I'm extremely grateful for this product. It's been 6 months since I've painted over mold and it was a lot of black mold. I clean the area and then paint it over with this primer. I haven't seen any grow back. What I read and researched was that you're supposed to paint this and then paint over this with a sealer because this is just a primer but I didn't paint over this. I wanted to make sure it worked because whenever I clean the areas the more would always grow back. I just use this primer and I don't see any mold growing back. I will be painting over it with similar brand paint to seal it up. I have some left of this primer so I'll use the rest and then paint over.
