Having previously released no less than four boxed repackages of their studio output, Led Zeppelin may well be the band who made redundancy redundant. Well, surprise! They've done it again. Culled from the band's first four albums by Jimmy Page himself (as if a fourth-grader with an FM radio would have been hard-pressed), this collection captures Page and company's blues-riff-ripping prime, relieved only by the folksy "Battle of Evermore" and the song that made Skynyrd 's "Free Bird" (almost) tolerable, the ubiquitous "Stairway to Heaven." Strung end-to-end, this is pretty heady stuff, and a great introduction to Zep's core early work for anyone who's spent the last couple of decades hangin' with Gilligan and the Skipper. The rest of us may just grumble and fast-forward to the previously unreleased 1969 live video clip of "Communication Breakdown." The package includes a 24-page booklet with many rare photos. -Jerry McCulley LED ZEPPELIN Early Days - The Best Of Led Zeppelin Volume One (1999 German pressed 14-track enhanced CD album featuring 13 classic audio recordings including Whole Lotta Love Babe Im Gonna Leave You Immigrant Song Stairway To Heaven Since Ive Been Loving You and more plus the Communication Breakdown CD-Rom Video with a picture sleeve booklet containing discography and timeline) Review: Yes, Buy This Album! - Don't be put off by mega-fans or purist collectors who insist you must buy every Zep album, or nothing! If you're a casual fan and want the best songs from the 1st four albums, this is the one to get. Excellent production and album art are a bonus. There are no filler songs here, just classic Led Zeppelin at their creative peak. Review: A great CD, but RELEASE YOUR LIVE MATERIAL! - This is a great CD for new LedZep fans. It has most of, but not all, of their good songs for their first four CDs. If you want all of their early good songs, get all of Led Zeppelin's first four albums. Everything but Hats Off to Harper is good. If you like those, get Physical Graffiti,HOTH, Presence and ITTOD. Then wait for Jimmy Page & Co. to release some more live stuff. Let's see... it took 28 yrs. for BBC Sessions to be released, if they release more live stuff at this rate (which is likely right now), we'll get the Royal Albert Hall video by 2025... So until then, you'll just have to be satisfied with this and all their other CDs...

Great for new LEARNING, not for the hardcore fans.
Zeppelin is a band I know because of their name and history on Rock and Roll, however due to my age and generation of birth they are before my time. In other words, I didn't grow up with them so I don't appreciate them like I do my generations music. This is true of most music as a whole. If you are like me and you know who they are on paper, maybe know 1 or 2 hits but would like to hear more without buying ALL of their music, then this Greatest hits album is for you! If you are a hardcore fan of this band, then you likely know all of their songs already, so why would you write a negative review of the album? IT'S NOT FOR YOU, it's to introduce non-fans to the music, duh! Like I said, buy this to get INTO Led Zeppelin if you DON'T know them. If you DO know them, then you shouldn't need this, should you?

A must for Zep fans
Anyone who loves Led Zeppelin should be happy with this collection, which has all their hits and then some. It ends with what is probably their most famous song, "Stairway to Heaven," but also includes "Black Dog," "Rock and Roll" and their other famous singles. The sound quality is very good.

Love, love
I bought this as a spare for my original CD in case I wore it out. I use it often to get me moving on a task or just to get some exercise or inspiration. Once this starts,I can't sit still- I have to get up and move. Love, love, love.
