Noobie Says Thick Beard and Sensitive Skin → Just Buy It
Well I just got into the world of DE Shaving and so far I've tried the Viking Blade Emperor Adjustable. I have an IKON X3 coming in. And I've been shaving with the Parker 55 SL for the past 4 days. The price on this Parker Slant Razor is right and the quality is excellent, but most important is that it provides a close Nick Free Shave when used with the right soap and Razor Blade. You've probably read by now that this razor is superior because it cuts at a slant. After all in revolutionary France the Guillotine had a slant razor too! They say it's not for a noobie and I'd agree that the first razor a noobie buys should be an adjustable to get into the groove but this makes a great 2nd Razor. This is a 3 piece which I like because I can mix and match handles. Less mechanical parts to break too.II bought an IKON X3 Slant Razor Head and plan to try using it with this handle. If I like the Ikon, I'll spring the extra $25.00 for the Bulldog handle otherwise I can just keep it in a drawer. A Razor Head is quite small. The quality of engineering seemed precise. The packaging was mimimalistic and not fancy like the Viking but what can you expect for $30.00I'm going to List my Equipment and Soaps so you can duplicate IMHO Success1. I use the Proraso Pre Shave delightfully Mentholyhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0082BYLS6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=12. I'm Using either Proraso Shaving Soap in a Bowlhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00837YY18/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1Or theTaylor of Bond Street Sandalwood Shaving Cream Bowlhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007MW2ZW/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1I like the Proraso heavy mentholy scent and feel better, but I think that the Taylor may lubricate better and give a better shave.3. A Nice Silver Badger Brush from Parker. This Brush is great it has different levels of stiffness. The ends are really soft but as you go further down into the brush it gets stiffer. Of course you can get by with a cheaper brush.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0796H9CHX/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=14. Mens Marble Shaving Bowl - This bowl is fantastic. I fill it with Hot Water and within a minute or two it heats up. So when I swirl my soap the lather is warm. I don't know about you but I like the feel of warm lather on my face in the morning!https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PBX6Y52/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=15. Razor Bank → This one is cheap and goodhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0778NC6Z9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=16. Razor Blades. Boy this is the toughie. Initially when I started out I tried the Feather and cut the heck out of myself.I bought these two packs. The first pack is really nice has a wide selection but 2 blades is not enough. I used all my Feathers and sure would like to revisit them. The second pack is my favorite Probably because I fell in love with the Nacet and I had great success with the Astra Platinum from the first pack.So I recommend a Astra Platinum or a Gillette Nacet for a great shave and unless you are a real pro, stay away from the Feather on an aggressive razor like this. This site is really neat because they actually test the level of sharpness. Just in case my URL doesn't come through you'll find the tests at "Refined Shave Com" take away the spaces and add a dot.https://www.refinedshave.com/razor-blade-sharpness-summary/The Nacet is the blade that came closest to the Feather. But I used it two days in a row for a really smooth shave.Double Edge Razor Blade Sample Pack (2x each)https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N6EEZ60/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1And7G's COMBO 35 Double Edge Blade Sampler 7 O'CLOCK NACET ASTRA and GOALhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005MKM8XU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1BTW I have a thick rough beard and very sensitive skin so if you are like me you are going to appreciate this Razor.

Fantastic razor!
This is a Slant razor, which means the razor twists the blade in such a way that it cuts whiskers at an angle - like a guillotine. This tends to give you a more smooth shave - it doesn't catch on whiskers nearly as often. Regular razors can catch on the whiskers more, especially if you're using a less sharp brand of blade. The sharpest I've used is Feather blades, but blade brand is a personal preference and you have to go with what works for you.I love slant razors and didn't realize that they were so common. I've had my first slant for several years thinking it was specific to that brand. It's a great razor. I spent about $50 bucks on it at the time. Then I recently came across several other slants - and they were even significantly cheaper. So I started trying out these new cheaper slants - and I've been happy with every one of them. Each of them is different in its aggressiveness. This Parker is probably exactly what I'd give to someone just starting out. It's maybe the least expensive slant I've come across. It's not overly aggressive and not too mild. It's a great place to start - and it could easily be what you would come back to permanently.Especially for the price - this is a great razor. Just for descriptive purposes, the knurling on the handle is mild. I personally like as aggressive knurling as they can muster - but that's just my personal preference. This works for me just fine and I love using this razor. As we all know, you have to try this out to really see if this works for you, but this razor is quite nice. If you wanted to put together a safety razor set together for your kid or your husband who has never used safety razors before, this is probably exactly what I'd start them off with. It's inexpensive, perfectly functional and looks classy.

Impressive performance but aggressive shave
I ordered the razor because I never tried the slant razor and the Parker razor was affordable and wanted to try it. It’s said the slant razors tend to cut hair more that to me it took two passes to give me a good shave but I was weary that it’s a aggressive shave but did not get razor burn and there was no burn when putting on aftershave it felt like a close shave there are two things when using this razor which is why I gave it four stars because first is when shaving this razor should do short strokes on your face when you shave because I was afraid that I was getting razor burn but didn’t and the second is the shave is aggressive so you need to take your time to shave and you should shave every 3 to 5 days which the minimum is every three days you should shave with this razor if your going to continue to use it because after shaving with it give your skin time to heal if you have sensitive skin which it states this razor is for sensitive skin so after every shave you should get a aftershave balm for sensitive skin like Nevia sensitive skin or proraso white aftershave balm after using this razor to cool the skin but this is a good razor I was impress with this razor and I got a good shave but was surprise that I did not get razor burn but it cut my hair with ease but you will feel the blade of the razor which is why it’s aggressive. But it’s a good razor just have a good blade in it. I recommend it if someone wants to try a slant razor.
