Attwood 2.5' Wooden Canoe Paddle, Sure Grip, Lightweight and Ergonomic

I bought this paddle with some amount of hesitation after reading the reviews. But at $12.50, I decided to take the risk. Amazon prime delivered the paddle quickly, and I got to work on making an end of tour plaque for my colleague who was getting transfered to another duty station. THe 2.5 ft length was great for a plaque of this nature, as it wasn't too long, but not too short. I've seen people with big plaques on their "I love me" walls, but this one seemed to be classy and a perfect size. The plaque came varnished already, and the quality of varnish seemed great. If you're making a paddle plaque and don't have a lot of time to refinish this thing, then this might work for you. There is a sticker on the back that you'll have to peel off, and some writing also that can come off with some fine sandpaper. Worst case scenario is that you'll have to sand a little bit off it and refinish. But I decided to sand off everything and repaint before refinishing. I ended up also drilling a hole to put a command coin in there, and some small holes for rank insignia. The type of wood that the paddle was made of was easy to work with, and didn't crack when placed under the drillpress. I was pretty happy with how well the paint stuck, and the finished product looked great after wrapping with some 550lb. Type III Paracord 100' Black , with a couple fancy knots. We also used an engraved metal plate with a little "thank you" note, stuck directly on the paddle, and left the back of it unfinished so that people could sign with a gold pen.

Works well for military plaques

For decorative use and award paddles. Not straight and even, but it will work. Made in China. No branding or logo. Some deep scratches on the varnish or clear coat. Huge pooling of varnish or clear coat on the blade's edge. Will order some more because it's cheaper to make these than to custom order them.

They seem okay. It was hard to find paddles in this size so I didn't have much of a choice. They'd be much better with a more ergonomic shape where you hold them or some grip. If your hands get wet, especially with sunscreen, theyre very hard to hold on to.

We bought this paddle to use as a military parting gift. The color is not the same as the picture, but it works better as one solid piece for our purpose. The size is just right for what we needed. I was also a bit hesitant to purchase this paddle because many of the reviews showed a branding on the back of the paddle, which we did not want. This paddle came with no such branding and the finish pretty uniform other than a bit scratchy at the bottom edge, which is sanded away easily.

Thought Amazon sent me an empty box with this one. Extremely light. We love it for our boat because it fits in our storage compartments. Definitely not made for long paddling or as a sole option for moving a boat or kayak but great for small stuff!

Great product and great service

Okay so unconventional use: my husband decided to get 2 of these for my Moana obsessed 3 year olds who like to get in the baskets for blankets and pretend it’s Moana’s boat. They LOVE these (and haven’t wacked each other yet somehow??). Being 3, they beat these up and scrape on concrete and they still look amazing with only minor scratching.

Exactly what I was looking for for home decor! They are the perfect size! (2 1/2 ft)

Loved this used it for my son's wedding for guest signing

Bought these to paint as a project and am disappointed with the quality. I ordered 3. One was perfect. One had a big dip in the paddle on 1 side and the other wasnt sanded properly before being varnished and sealed. I had the intention to sand them down anyways but for someone expecting to use them straight out of the packaging it would be quite disappointing I'm sure.

Nicely made, great for rope work or decoration. Delivery took a long time.

Didn’t realize these paddles were so small. For display only I guess.
