Easy to use when you are visually impaired!!
Arrived on time, and in perfect condition. Easy to set up and use. Bought for my 99 year old mom, who is blind in one eye, almost blind in the other eye. It has a base & phone, with an add on phone & base. You can add on more extra add on phones & bases but we didn’t need them. We set up the main base & phone. You need the main base for the add on to work. The add on has large buttons, so I added bright colored paper, with an initial under the first button. The second button, I used a different bright colored paper, with another initial. I put in my number and my sisters, with the corresponding initial. All she does is press the button with the correct initial of who she want to call. She’s in a nursing home. This has kept her independent and can call either of us easily. And she knows when we call her & who it is. All she has to do is press the button that is light up. This phone is awesome, helps her to call either one of us and also take calls from others. She uses it every day. Never an issue with the phone, voices are clear, easy to charge, easy to use, easy to hang up to end the call for a visually impaired person. So happy I found this phone so mom can continue to be so independent.

Great phone, but it only works with the matching base phone.
*Note This phone will only work if you have the matching base phone. This phone is perfect. I needed it for my 93 year old, legally blind mother. She can hear this ring and easily choose which button to call. We have tried several of the other picture, one button dial phones in the past, but the never work for long. This phone is high quality and works well!

Great System-ONE Terrible Downside.
While many features of this phone we absolutely love and it certainly has made using a phone for my elderly mom with Alzheimer's possible, the ONE negative that we have is a repetitive issue with the volume control buttons being on the side of the handset. When mom holds the phone as she is talking, she unknowingly & inadvertently ends up pressing the volume buttons where her fingers hold the handset, and in turn it lowers the voice volume of the phone to the point where she can no longer hear the person. They need to relocate those volume buttons. If your loved one has Alzheimers or dementia, you are well aware you can't just explain or give directions and have them follow them. We then need to reach someone at the memory care facility she is at and wait for the availability of a staff member to go in and fix the volume. Unfortunately this happens with most phone calls. Other than that issue this phone system is great!!!

great idea - miserable execution
The idea of a phone to reach up to four important contacts with a touch of a button is great.Unfortunately, everything else leaves a lot to be desired. See also other reviews about sound quality, dizzy announcements and awkward volume control. I think the entire design is poor. First of all the ridiculous setup requiring two other units to make this one work, really? Then back on this unit, the layout of the 'talk' and 'hang up' buttons is terrible. On incoming calls, the 'talk' button should light up. The unit itself is so small that the 'hang up' button often gets pressed by grasping the phone to hold it up to the ear. Unit won't hang up by just placing it back in the charger. The list goes on...At the time of purchase we found no other brand who executed the basic idea. Definitely a market gap here. If the reader finds an alternative to VTech, I'd urge you to try that. Finally, had an issue with the base unit, which VTech customer support basically shrugged off. No real help, no realistic solution offered, unless you are willing to chase their long 'red tape'. Customer not happy.

Easy to use
I needed an easy to operate "emergency" phone for my 5 year old. We live in a very rural area about an hour from our closest friends/ family and daddy works night shift. I needed an easy way for our daughter to be able to get on touch with family in an emergency. This phone allowed me to quickly program phone numbers that she can directly dial without having to stop and think about how to use it. One touch of the button and it dials without having to press any other buttons before or after. The SN5127 base unit is required to use this add on handset and it is not my favorite. So if we used our house phone for anything other than emergencies (we have horrible cell service) I would probably look for other options but for ease of use in an emergency this handset is perfect.

Easy to make calls by accident….too narrow.
These phones are too narrow. When the user picks up the phone it is exceedingly easy to push a name button and make an inadvertent call. Also, the ringer button is easily pressed in error.Maybe software should be included to make a tiny photo for the tiny memory buttons. This could be a useful product with some modifications.
