Excellent boot! A homerun purchase!
Have had horrible luck with hiking boots the last few years. Bought these I have to say they are the most comfortable and high quality as far as construction that I have seen at an amazing price. They even included a extra set of show laces which blew me away. I normally wear a 10.5 but they suggested a size 11 and it fit perfect. Plenty of width throughout boot and a comfortable wear in all situations. I'll update in a few months and inform on durability but right now I would sat they are a home run!

Worth Every Penny
Bought these in July of 25...if your gonna review something like this you need to run them thru the trenches....Im 6"2 around 255 and for the first 3-4 hours of work Im in near freezing conditions with Ice and water everywhere...I work produce at HEB...These have held up better than Anything I have purchased in the past...Im lucky to get 6 month out of anything I've tried. They fit great, super comfortable, they are warm and keep my feet dry....Photo include of photos I took 2/23/2026. I plan on moving these to an at home "Yard Shoes" and getting a new pair for work.

A good hiking boot and a very good price.
Lets start with the good - These are really comfortable from the start. I have had them so far about a week and a half and have done only light walking - so I will return to update the review later on. Things to note - they come with an extra pair of laces which is nice because finidng matching laces for hiking boots is always difficult. They are comfortable, though I lace only on the lower hooks - the upper one is more restrictive and presses on the ankles. I will use the upper ones though when we go on our upcoming hiking trip where the increased ankle support will be usefuel. The tongue could have been made another half inch longer to be perfect. It goes just up to the the lace line, so sometimes if laced to the top, the laces can pop over the top of the tongue. The shoes are flexable to start, but a short wear in period would be recommended before serious hiking. There is ample toe wiggle room - which for me is a must. There is nice arch support as well. Some people have reported need for a different insole, though for now I don't see the need (based on reviews, I purchased one and am keeping it on hand incase need comes up with the serious hiking. These are priced at a level that even if they wear out in two or three years, I could buy 4 paris for the price of the more fancy brands, and for those of you not doing super long high weight hiking - no real reason to spend the extra money. Water - so far been through a few rainy days and puddles - haven't gotten wet. Temp - the shoes are a bit warm in the Cincinnati spring. I suspect when we get to the summer and desert - the shoes may feel hot. Will have to see. Be back with more after more serious hiking and weather.

Excellent boots!
Excellent! I am 5’”11 @206lbs ,with a neutral foot type that prefers a bit of stability. These are perfect for my use in desert southwest and alpine terrain (USA) from sand to rock whether valley, flat, or pitched these have been excellent. I pack about 20-25 lbs most hikes and these are the perfect blend of support and comfort and they have just enough flex in the sole to keep your foot from cramping like Vibram sole boots can sometimes do. That’s important to me because on banked rock surfaces where it occasionally can get loose, I need that grippy agility to make it. These are huge value for the money in my POU/ use case scanario.

Buy them for hiking
First impression: awesome Bought these boots for hiking in TN, GA, mountain areas. I wanted something waterproof and considerably slip resistant and comfortable especially wearing a size 13. I ordered the 13 wide and it’s very comfortable as well as true to size. They came with extra laces, which was cool. They don’t have a break in period which is nice; I went hiking 2.5 miles in steep terrain at Standing Stone State Park and they didn’t rub or irritate my heel or toes. They’re a true black and they look nice. I walked in creeks and they’re truly waterproof.

Immediate comfort
Out of the box the Nortiv 8 hiking boots fit better than I had hoped. Over the years I’ve worn out many different brands of hiking boots, some, of course, better than others. And more expensive. My latest light hikers, Mont Belle ,would still be in use now except that after so many years of hard abuse they kinda fell apart and I didn’t feel right filing a warranty claim. So I shopped around looking for something comfortable, durable, and that wouldn’t leave me barefoot in the national park. Found the Nortiv 8 with “wide” option, read the reviews and took a chance. Gotta admit, the price was attractive too. When I received the boots USPS, I inspected their construction, scrutinized them from heel to toe. There is lots of stitching where many competitors are just gluing. It is usually only on boots costing twice as much that you start to see this kind of construction. Many of my previous hikers fell apart as a result of sole adhesives letting go. It’s so annoying. My personal feeling is that I get longer wear from stitched uppers as opposed to reliance on glue alone, which always seems to be where boots fail. And there are limits to what a shoe glue repair can do. As for the Active 8 boots in the field, they were immediately comfortable, required no break-in period, and felt like old friends back on a familiar trail together. I had no rubs, no blisters, and no irritations whatsoever. There is room for an insert, but that doesn’t seem necessary. I fully expected these boots to “ fail” their inaugural hike and need to be returned. In that regard I was surprised and wrong. They were great. As an observation, they don’t seem to breathe well, but it’s a small consideration that can be easily overcome by slightly loosening up lacing while hiking. I’m not complaining. I mourn the demise of my Mont Belles, but in the Active 8s I have found what I believe to be well made and comparable boots at suitable retiree pricing. Only time will tell if these boots will be durable and live up to their predecessor. But I think I’ll likely wear out before these boots do. If you’re searching for quality without compromise, at an affordable price, the Active 8 boots might be where your search ends. Take these out on your next walkabout. You’ll see.
