We love the convenience of how quickly this boils water. Beautiful blue lights on rim of element showing that it is on.I gave it one less star because the concern of the plug and cord get pretty warm in just the minute or two of heating the water. Perhaps on the next generation a bit heavier cord for the heating plate.

Auto stop failed after 1 year.

Dangerous!I ordered one to replace an older, very dependable model whose base stopped making electrical contact with the boiler. It performed for over 10 years at 100% before that failure. I was sorry to see it go.The replacement dribbled boiling water around the too loose fitting lid, so I returned it for a replacement. Lo and behold, the replacement dribbled, too, scarcely missing my feet as I poured.This model evidently has many identical complaints lodged against it. I don't know that I'll be giving it another shot for fear of actually being burned and spending time, effort and fuel to return it.Update: After contacting the manufacturer twice on their site without a response other than wait two weeks for a response, I think a dangerous product report to the CPSC might be a next step.A further update: The Hamilton Beach customer service rep says that the unit qualifies for factory replacement and to just send $14.99 for shipping and handling before they send it. My reply: Just send me a refund instead of essentially selling me a reduced price replacement.We'll see how that turns out.April 21 update. It hasn't turned out well. The people with whom I have been corresponding are not Hamilton Beach reps, they're a third party warranty service that keeps customers an arm's length from the company, a layer of insulation that charges a fee to the customer for warranted replacements.Nice work, Hamilton Beach. You've lost another customer.
