Not For Parents South America: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know (Lonely Planet Kids) Review: Learn about the world around you - We like to travel and take our children to experience as much as possible in this world. When we were preparing for our trip to South America I researched a variety of children's books on South America to help them get excited. They can't figure out why they only learn about the United States at school (I have yet to figure that one out myself) and love learning about other countries. While it was nice to have this book to look at before our trip, it wasn't until AFTER we visited some of the places in the book that they got really excited. It doesn't read like a boring textbook and it includes lots of great pictures and boxed tidbits of information. I appreciate that it doesn't only include information on your typical tourist spots, but also about tribes that you'll likely never even see even on a trip to the area. As an adult, I've even learned things from this book and it is a great addition to any family library. Review: Five Stars - Fun for kids and adults to read together.

Great for kids learning about this continent. Right level of information and humour. My children are 8 and 9 and read it with interest.

Review from my son: My favourite bit of the book was about the edible ants because they sounded lovely and tasty!

As a South American I was expecting a reasonable compilation about my continent but the book is only a magazine with a few facts of each country. It is far to be "Everuthing you ever wanted to know".
