Small, well-made, and the flint striker produces a solid shower of sparks. Another reviewer complained there was no lanyard. Who cares. Make your own. Also mentioned was the sparks were more than expected and to watch your clothing. I want lots of sparks and if you use any fire device it’s obvious to keep your clothing away. The review also mentioned that the other tinder provided didn’t come in a waterproof container. To me it seems obvious that I would protect my tinder either in a ziplock baggie or inside a container and that I’m not going swimming with my fire starting equipment…the product photos didn’t show an extra container so how can one complain about one not being provided? It’s $28. It’s worth it. It’ll start a fire once if all you carry is the device.

This thing seems like it is well built and will last a long time. I like that it's a US made product, something like this usually wouldn't be anymore. It is pretty easy to operate, both me and my wife did not have any trouble making it work. However, my daughter seems to have a hard time turning the wheel. So this might not be the best option for younger campers. It's nice that it comes with tinder, but I wish it also included some spare replacement flints since they are replaceable.

For as expensive as this item is, I expected a lanyard to come with this as there is a spot for one. Also...although the product may keep the current cotton kindling waterproof there was no waterproof case nor any case or tiny ziplock to put the remaining cotton kindling into. This is a big disappointment. I am going to keep this item anyways as I already opened the package with scissors & ruined the packaging for them. The product itself works very well though. A bit more spark comes out of it than I was expecting so watch your fingers/clothing etc. I will give it 3 stars only because of price and the other things mentioned.

My sister got me this as a birthday present and I took it on a backpacking trip to the Washington coast. It was rainy and cold, surprise! ;) Despite my fingers going completely numb and stiff (and my weak grip on a good day), this worked every time on the first try to light my stove. Light weight and easily fit on a keychain. I dropped it in water and it kept the tinder in the little tinder tray completely dry. Will definitely use it on every trip, and might just keep it on my keychain for emergencies.
