The joy and pain of living with beauty
Anyone who is considering getting peacocks should read this book on these gorgeous birds first.Peacocks are hardy, will find most of their own food if left uncaged, like hanging around humans and are decorative as heck. They are also noisy, messy and escape artists with a penchant for wandering off if they're allowed to roam free. These jungle birds have a cry that is as raucous as they are beautiful. They also don't shut up, even at night. They like to perch on tree limbs and rooftops, although they are not strong fliers. Then there are the reminders of their presence they like to scatter around.Still they are entertaining, semi-friendly and beautiful. Did I mention beautiful? The author started out knowing nothing about peacocks and learned as he went. The advice in this book is strictly practical and the result of experience. If you decide you want peacocks -- or if you're unsure whether you do or not -- you need this book.

Al you need to know....
Do you know how hard it is to find a book giving some practical advice about owning, raising or living with these beautiful creatures?Thank goodness for this one. Anything you need to know from behaviour, personality, chicks, food and dwellings is all in this book.I now know how to move a male peacock with huge tail feathers, how the birds relate to humans and other animals and everything else I need to know before I decide to invite a peacock to join the family. This is a great book by a man who loves and owns peacocks and has done for many years. It is written in an easy-to-read, informative style with a good sprinkling of humour.

Good
Very informative, easy to read. My only complaint is that it should be full of color photos. The pros and cons are gone over thoroughly, to help the customer make an informed decision before buying peafowl on a whim. The best book out there, partly because it's the ONLY book out there.

Living with Peacocks
This book is not exactly what I wanted.I didn't know it was written by someone who was just writing it from his own expiriernce raising a couple of peacocks. I thought it written by a proffessional who handled peacocks for a living. It doesn't give enough deatail on how to raise and care for peacocks. Actually I got more help in a hour of going on Wikipedia and other websites. I would only recommend this book only as a reference to some ome who just wanted a little info about these bird but not to someone who was going to raise them as a pet.

Good info, just not much of it
I honor and admire this nice man's dream of publishing a book on Peacocks, but am a bit disappointed at the lack of info in it. There is nothing in it that I did not find Googling around a bit. Save your money.

short and sweet
It's tough to find a book on Peafowl without spending $50 for a breeders or geneticists. Worth the Kindle $

Living with Peacocks
I found it excellent for general knowledge about peacocks. Having recently been adopted by four peafowl about which I knew nothing, it gave me an insight into their behaviour and habits.
