Joop Pour Homme Eau de Toilette Spray for Men, 4.2 Fluid Ounce

Joop belongs in another time...back when men's fragrances weren't all too bland or the same to be noticed. Joop also dared to market this masterpiece in a very non-typically male color. From the outside, you can just tell you aren't going to get your typical "male" fragrance: you know all those in the blue bottles that smell sort of the same. The blend reminds me very much of smelling quality pipe tobacco, the raging hot spices almost being cooled by the warm vanilla. And yes, there's citrus here but it's not overdone like in so many male fragrances...it's more of a subtle counterpoint to the sweet vanilla. I also think of leather when I smell this. If I had to paint a picture of this fragrance it would be of a man casually dressed in jeans and a t-shirt who is sitting on a leather sofa with a pipe dangling from his mouth. On the table next to him would be a small vase of flowers and on the coffee table in front of him a bowl of citrus fruits. Yes, it's too girly for men hung up on that sort of thing but I dare say this is one of the most wonderfully bold masculine scents ever. It's for the consumer who is confident enough in his masculinity to accent it with a very bold and almost controversial (well nowadays) choice. It's long lasting and develops well even hours after applying. When you spray it, it almost feels thick---I suspect the high concentration of fragrance oils as compared to other products which are watered down. Give it a try. It's priced so much better than many products that are bland and inferior. You can hide it behind that blue bottle of bland stuff if you think the color is too girly.

I have been wearing Joop! exclusively, since I first tried it in Sydney in 2001 (it's the same product here in the US). The smell is very appealing, and not overpowering or "cloying". I've noticed that lower-quality (though maybe not less expensive) colognes tend to assault the senses, especially when the wearer applies too much (I call this the "Frat Boy Effect"). I apply Joop! sparingly--one spray on my upper chest/neck, one spray on the top part of my back (between the shoulder blades). It lasts at least 6 to 8 hours, unless I'm sweating a lot (if I'm about to exercise, do yard work, detail my car, or any other activity where I'm likely to sweat, I won't apply cologne anyway). This is my first order of Joop! from Amazon; I liked the price, and the 4.2 ounce bottle is comparatively HUGE; in the past, 've bought Joop! in 2.1 ounce bottles at a department store. This on will last a year, maybe more.

I have been wearing Joop for years, if not decades, and almost every time I wear it, if I am out in public, I have someone stop me to either ask me what I am wearing or tell me how good I smell. It gets to be almost funny at times because these are sometimes strangers. It's a pretty powerful scent, a bit sweet but refreshing enough to wear not only during the cooler months but also during the summer. Joop would make an excellent gift for the man in your life, a very dear friend, and of course, we all need to treat ourselves at times, so get it for yourself!

The big sell for this cologne is the price. It's cheap, but the scent is definitely not cheap. It has a strong cinnamon and vanilla scent with a little bit of baby powder smell. I sometimes use it when going out to run errands or even on runs or going to the gym. I haven't used it for date night as there are other better options IMO that are proven to not cause issues with your date. I'm giving it 4 stars because it's not quite perfect and can possibly turn off some people who aren't used to this unique scent. It will get people asking you what you got on because it's not really a mainstream cologne that everyone knows about still to this day.

Disclaimer: I bought this directly from Amazon in September 2018, not through a 3rd party seller. It was 4.2 fl oz. This is Owl City's favourite cologne and I see why! It has a sweet uplifting scent, with it having strong notes of cherry and vanilla to me with a bit of patchouli, Tonka Bean, and sandlewood! It's a really layered scent that changes with time. I've had it last almost close to 8 hours! It only takes 1 or 2 sprays on one of your pulse points and it starts off strong. It's a nice scent to relax with underneath a warm sky full of stars. I can see it as a light casual scent, but if you're heavy with it, it could come across as more romantic. Don't let the pink throw you off, this is sold as a men's cologne.

Absolutely love the smell and when it came time to give a gift to hubby I initially bought an expensive YSL cologne gift set along with a bunch of other YSL purchases. I quickly came to regret this decision and had to ask him to go back to Joop. Even though it's far less expensive it is honestly the most amazing, I cant and don't want to stop smelling smells. Maybe my bias towards is because it's my hubby's preference but nevertheless, this is my #1 men's preferred cologne. I've also noticed that he only does a single application per day and the smell stays on all day long. Even between laundries (I keep a few of his stuff when he's away on business trips and I could still smell "him"/Joop I suppose even between washes).

I've used this fragrance for years. Its my absolute favorite. Its strong enough and lasts long enough that I use it as a deodorant rather than regular commercial anti-antiperspirants/deodorants. When I figure the cost savings of that, that makes Joop a great buy, and the atomizer is really efficient. I find two-three pumps per arm is just right, then swish your arms for a second and you're good to go. I find that even in the shower the next day, I can still detect the Joop and no offensive B-O.

Great fragrance. I got it as a gift from a hotel and looked for it everywhere since. It’s not available in Delhi duty free or malls. Found it at Amazon. Original long lasting fragrance.
